Why? you can forecast the future, then?
No but 2 years ago I was saying this when everyone was saying it would come down soon.
If you look at this thread, last May people were adament that it would be demolished. A few of us said he will get round it somehow. It will be the same next year and years after.
People like Mr Fidler always make the better of local councils etc.
He is probably laughing at them. :rotfl:0 -

Battle for Castle Goes On – 27.1.09
Robert Fidler, the farmer who built a castle in the grounds of his estate in Salfords, has won another step in his battle to keep his home. Mr Fidler attended the hearing at the High Court on Monday where he was told that he may continue to fight the council on their order to demolish the property.0 -

A property developer who fraudulently built a luxury home disguised as a barn on green belt land in Hertfordshire has fought off a council eviction bid. Alan Beesley, and his wife Sarah, faced losing their £500,000 two-storey house at North Brook Meadow near Potters Bar.
The Court of Appeal has now ruled the couple acted within existing laws.
Owners living in a property for four years are entitled to a certificate of lawfulness even if they fail to get the correct approvals, a judge said.Ex forum ambassador

Reports say High Court bid lost:

It doesn't seem to agree with the barn case, although the difference is that in the "castle" case the actual building was obscured the whole time whereas the barn has permission but was used for a different purpose, and hasn't been altered externally (yet!).
Given the barn case, this guy will probably try at the court of appeal.0 -
Well it seems that the house will be demolished after all!

Nice picture
".......should not be allowed to "profit" from deception........"
Watch this space for eventual planning permission restricted to the current owner/applicant giving (say) 5 years to make alternative arrangements.
I've witnessed this problem:...........dozy council fell asleep and 9 years came and went: bingo home & dry.
Pritpal Singh Swarn - when I was a kid, my dad was a tax accountant - there used to be mutterings about losing clients to "Jewish Accountants" - they were not offering a cheaper service just a different one.
Me thinks Mr Swarn will be in demand if he can win this one.
Looking at the pictures, the water marking suggests Mr Fidler has not got his detailing as good as it could be - may be risking nasty staining and efflorescence problems?
Is this really being financed by legal aid?
Or perhaps it is "pro bono"? :rotfl:0 -
The only thing we want to see is the Bulldozers moving in and demolishing, not just another "Final Judgement" thing which has happened before.0
