NEC e616V JUST £29.99 at CPW!!!

This phone is on the 3 network and the model is the NEC e616v
Phone can be unlocked but I think it requires a cable, you should be able to get it done for £10 - £20
A friend of mine has this phone and as far as I am aware he has had no problems whatever with it or the network, the phone is stacked with features and seems like a good deal however you do need to top up with at least £15 every month I believe.
All in all you will not get a much better deal than this especially if you get a £10 trade-in. the trade in phone does not even have to work, get a faulty one off ebay for a couple of quid!!
If you do not like the 3 network get it unlocked and stick another sim in it.

By the way, reference the free 3G features for a month, it is just a Christmas offer. I think the phone has to be registered before the 6th January when the offer ends,0

If its useful to anyone, just found this link which explains how to temporarily unlock the e616 via a code, no cable required.

The 3 network is still rubbish by the way.
Calls do not handover to the 2G network when you lose coverage of Three's 3G network, and therefore calls will drop.
Three's 2G network is O2.
The phone is OK for casual use.0 -
Absolutely agree. 3's network coverage is !!!!!! and you will get dropped calls and people not being able to get through (program on TV mentioned how !!!!!! 3G coverage still is despite billions being spent on a government backed !!!!!! project). No call drops stick to the leaders like Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone.0

Even if you don't intend to use the 3 network, it's still a very cheap handset for the features. Just £20 with the trade-in at CPW, and we have a free solution to get it unlocked ;D
Can't be bad eh?0 -
I am not sure if this is a pricing error or if it comes without the £15 of credit or what but this is a bargain:

I have put an order in so will wait and see. As far as I know there is only type of package for the e616V that they now sell and that is the Xmas pack with the £15 credit and 30 days of free mobile entertainment so if this is it it's very cheap - was selling for £44.99 at Argos and £39.99 at Amazon but both are now out of stock.
Good luck and happy buying!

Well Spotted Josh.
However, it's a little known fact that the Christmas gift pack contains the following:
30 days entertainment (certain content excluded e.g. top shelf)
20 minutes free 3-3 video calls
20 free 3-3 video messages
It was nigh on impossible finding written proof of this online to link to - most sites didn't even mention the giftpack, 3 just said "entertainment", Carphone Warehouse mentions the free calls/messages but only as part of a contract add-on - However, they do have a tag in their special PAYG graphic listing all these benefits "suggesting" they might be included in the free gift pack that is mentioned.
However, I finally found the proof that we need to convince ourselves of this on a Phones4U page that I extracted from Google:
http://www.phones4u.co.uk/xmas/gifts-over-100.asp
On this page it states the follosing quite clearly and explicitly:
Between 01.11.04 and 06.01.05 all ThreePay mobiles come with a free Christmas gift pack (preloaded on the SIM), which gives you 30 days of free entertainment, goals and music, plus 20 mins 3 to 3 video calls and 20 minutes 3 to 3 video messages
Now surely P4U online are going to be careful of what they promise in this area? I'd like to think so at least.
Anyway...has anyone actually thought of buying one of these just to send to some far flung relatives in the UK with instructions to activate it on Xmas Day - thought it might be fun for 40 minutes of video communications with your rellies over the Christmas Turkey (20 free minutes initiated from each phone).
Just a thought
Don't think these will stay in stock for very much longer now that thsi is known about.
