I've scrapbooked an 8x8 album of pictures from my baby great-niece's first 8 months. Did it at the last minute, so did scraplifts rather than originals, but it still brought a tear to her mum's eye on Boxing Day morning. :)

I've made a start on my 2009 Christmas cards, as I bought some Christmas stamps but too late to do my 2008 ones. I'm liking the results so far as I'm playing around with my distress inks and making them sort of collagey.

I've also finished a scarf with 4 balls of wool I got in a huuuuugge mixed bag at a boot sale, so that has gone into my present drawer. (The lady selling knitted up patterns to go into magazines, and had loads of scrummy yarn that she was selling for £1 for as much as you could cram into a carrier bag. I think I got 3 bag fulls!

I'm going to do some altered domino necklaces next - nice for little pressies.

i made a small christmas tree from a polystyrene cone and some ribbon-saw it in a craft mag then couldnt find it again so made it from memory.

I made a xmas tree a few years ago that still comes out every year. I made a cone (approx. 8" high) from stiff card and taped in shape, wound green tinsel around to cover (stuck down with double-sided tape), then made a star from a sparkly silver pipe cleaner, leaving a long piece to poke through the top of the cone and secured inside with tape. I like it :p
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)
  • thats what i was thinking ... along with the family tree research and psychology o level i rarely have time to do anything

I also research our family tree's and then print them up and 'book' them in a nice clear plastic folder as a present for far-away family members.I have done one for my cousin in Oz and another for a cousin in Florida.
I knit for the Linus project, which provides blankets for disadvantaged children all over the world, made 43 last year, from odds and ends of wool that I beg, borrow from friends and relations.Colours don't matter to a little South American child who lives on a rubbish tip, they just want to be warm at night.
I also am in the middle of a CCS course at Kent Uni, and I write short stories for my grandchildren. I can honestly say I could do with at least another 6 hours to the day to get everything done. There is a saying that if you want something done then ask a busy person ,and I do get asked quite a bit.
I also make craft cards for all my family plus to sell at my local hospital breast care unit who helped me through breast cancer.
Of course I have to find the time to come on here as well, so I do lead a very frantic life at times. But it keeps the little grey cells moving:D

For christmas I made a beaded bracelet for a friend and almost 40 christmas cards. Some of them were one-offs and others were very simple stamped cards. I am not sure these count as 'money-saving' though as I have a room full of stash which has cost a fortune over the years I have been crafting!;)

My friend combined her love of cooking and crafting by making preserves etc, filling kilner jars and adding fabric tops tied with a big bow and a hand-stamped tag. They were beautiful and were really appreciated by her family. They are all giving the empty jars back to her so she can refill them next year which I thought was a good idea.

  • I'm starting on fabric reusable advent calenders for my kids for next year using xmas fabric picked up in the sales
planning on making little pouches/stocking and pegging them on a line
No big food shop for 3 weeks - total spent £27.25
hoping to keep it under £75 for 7 of us and 5 cats 1 dog for 3 weeks
  • I spent part of this afternoon going through all the back copies of simply knitting and I have pulled out all the alan dart toy patterns to file plus any knitting patterns that I want to keep. Nice, I cleared a bit of space on a shelf and thats another nibble done.

Recently I have been making felt items after seeing this:

    I spent a happy afternoon making 6.

Felt is addictive, I love the hearts here:

in fact there are lots there that inspire me to think about making things!

I want to make some/one of these glitterhouses for next Christmas:

There is a simple version here (see 21st November)

I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Right, this weekend I am going to complete all my UFO's!
I have two cushion covers, one knitted and one in hardangar that just need sewing together and cushion pads inserting. Two knitted handbags to sew together.
After that I can concentrate on all the nearly finished projects.
Knitted jacket just needs one more sleeve.
Mr Bean teddy just needs a head

Then on to brand new stuff - Living room curtains - have had the fabric for 18 months!
Bedroom curtains - bought fabric from charity shop last week for £3

I don't have a lot of spare time as have a full time job, a part time job and an Avon round, but don't feel as if I my day is complete if I haven't done any crafting at all. Have been known to knit a few rows when I get home at midnight, even though I've been working since 9am

Happy New Year to everyone on here, and let's make a resolution to post pictures every time we finish a project to inspire us all x

Thanks luxor - I've been looking for inspiration for an 'easy' soft toy to make to go with the nappy cake I'm planning on doing for sister's new baby. I have 7 months til it's due, so should be able to make lots of the 'boyfriend ornaments' :T
