Maybe I don't get well your question.

But it is my understanding that you can insert a wireless LAN in your home with *any* ADSL provider. They simply give your home one point of connectivity (as they do when they install you a phone line). Then it is up to you to extend your LAN as you like.

You can either pass Ethernet cables or use a wireless router to give full coverage and have as many access nodes (wireless or wired) as you like (2 or more is not a problem).

So you have to choose simply a provider which gives you ADSL and satisfy you.
Then you can set-up your own wireless network as you like.

If you have an NTL/Telewest line, then you'll have to use their own broadband service.

ADSL is only available over a BT telephone line - if you want to use someone other than NTL/Telewest, then you'll need to get a BT line installed/activated.
  • If you are looking for a wireless/router make sure you get one that is suitable for cable ie NTL

    in short - yes
  • if i call up blueyonder for their wireless broadband..they will give me a wireless router am i right? or do i have to purchase it on my own
  • Generally you will be given a free modem by a broadband provider and if you want to go wireless you then have to buy your own wireless router or wireless router/modem icon7.gif

You can just call up Telewest and get them to install broadband.

Connect via Ethernet connection not USB (They will give you a CD, do NOT use the CD, just hide it somewhere, so you don't use it).

Then buy a cable wireless router, I bought mine for £25 (Though are now out of stock at that price, and as dear as a better product elsewhere). The £25 one does the job for me, I didn't need great speed on the wireless side, however you can pick up Netgear WGR614UK Wireless 54G Cable/DSL Router for £41.20 delivered from Amazon, which will do what you want, also worth a look at BroadbandBuyer and BroadbandStuff websites.

You connect your cable modem that Telewest supplied to the router, this router then shares the cable modem with your other systems.

As you have/will have cable broadband, you want a cable router and not a combined adsl modem and router.

ADSL is used over BT lines, cable use their own standard.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
