Most definately Big W in Edinburgh?!

I honestly was absolutely FURIOUS with the goings on there! I arrived at about 3.30pm and was totally stunned (but not that surprised) at certain "families" with hundreds of trolleys full to the brim with things that were obviously for re-selling. Yes, you might put a couple of things on Ebay etc but this certainly wasn't for the odd Ebay auction. They had multiples of EVERYTHING - I only wanted 1 wee Brats doll if I could, but couldn't get a look in because they had about 30+ of them all to themselves. Fair enough if it was all spread out amongst people and they got in there first but it really was shocking. Greedy doesn't even cover it! It was an absolute disgrace that they then waited with everything all day until they could get it all for 90% off.

Well done to everyone else there though for picking up any other bargains that they could get their hands on :T Everyone else was very polite and passing on bargains if they didn't want them any more etc.

I did however get some tasty bargains myself! A few highlights included -

A Superman toy set reduced from £9.99 for 90p
    A Primevil figure/playset from £19.99 for £1.10
A Batman Dark Knight toy set reduced from £14.99 for £1.50
    Camp Rock CD for 50p
2 Xmas Disney DVDs for 50p each
6 posters at £3.99 each for 50p for the lot
2 Only Men Aloud Cd's for £1 each
Coleen's Real Style book for £1.10
Peep Show Script book for £1
2 McFly Greatest Hit Cds for £1 each
2 McFly Dvds for £1 each
The Feeling CD Album for 40p
Russel Watsons new Album for 40p
etc etc etc....You get the idea!

The 2 guys that served me said they picked up some bargains too -

1 Guy got Seasons 1-10 of The Simpsons for £18 for the lot!! :j
And the other got an Elite Xbox for £25:j

So well done to them! They are the ones who deserve to pick up these bargains not other groups of greedy people!

Sorry rant over but if you were at the Big W yesterday in Edinburgh I'm sure you would agree!!

I popped into my local yesterday and it was quite sparce, but loads of kids clothes, they announced 5 items for £1 and so i picked a few bits for my ds (which actually i didn't get at 5 for £1 but a bargain anyway! - wasn't go to argue with poor girl on till!!), but it turned into a mad scrum i was being elbowed repeatedly particularly by 2 ladies who were grabbing everything with a kids brand on it i.e. thomas/superman etc - i'm sure to appear on ebay soon! I know it's to be expected as everyone wants a bargain, but i don't go behaving like i'm in a rugby scrum!! Was pleased when a lady who'd been working there for 17years managed to get a doll for her granddaughter at a bargain price! o/h pleased as he got a ps3 game for £5.

I went yesterday morning, hubby got kids paint set x2 for gifts, kids spade and fork, a dvd, pair of boys trunks and a pair of school trousers for £6.00. Was trying to get him over to the suitcases as they were 70 % off and we haven't got any, by the time i dragged him over there the big uns were gone, but picked up two small hard plastic grey ones and a smart red one, hoping we can have a holiday this yr as haven't had one for three yrs now so really chuffed to get the cases.
Apart from that the store was virtually empty and i didn't feel like rummaging through all the tubs - i actually got hubby to put some items back as we didn't need them it was buying for the sake of it. The staff were really unhappy looking and i don't blame them, hope they can all get good jobs quickly.

To LilacLee and EdinPinkPrincess...yest, it was the Edinburgh BigW.

As I said the guy in front of me at the tills went through with £193 worth of stuff, and good for him. I even unpacked the trolley for him so he could pack the stuff at the other side of the till faster. But I was really hacked off at the horded piles in the trolleys. I know I was a bit late going in at 3pm, but I wouldn't have minded one of these big Bratz dolls for DD, and one woman was guarding at least a dozen.

Just wondered if there is a list of any woolworths stores still open preferrably around northampton (midlands/east area)
Or have they all shut now.

I know the northampton branch has shut as i caught an article that was in the local paper, but does anyone know if wellingborough/milton keynes or other stores in this area are still open please ?

    :T Many Thanks.:T

I totally agree. If it was just Joe Bloggs getting a load of stuff for his family and some bits for ebay etc - well done him! But it was the greedy hoarders that were annoying me. Everyone else who was there getting stuff for their kids etc, I was well pleased if that had baskets of stuff. Not the ones with about 20 odd products of the same kind!

Right DEFINATELY rant over lol. I am well chuffed with my bargains believe it or not hahahaha!

  • I feel rather sick but even worse not surprised reading some of this. I went on Sunday, and there were LOTS of CDs, books and DVDs left. I gt 3 CDs and a DVD for £17 so not cheap, cheap but still a bargain for what they were. I went back on Tuesday lunchtime and everything had gone and they were shut so some greedy people really must have just been grabbing everything for the sake of it and putting it on eBay.

Thanks but don't be concerned, I'm not.

It's only Jane "Pot, Kettle, Black" Cane the hypocrite who's been a MSE Troll member for under a month.

According to the other Woolies thread (in her own words) because of a store closing "a whole pile of cheap scum has been visiting" the "nice area" she lives in.

About Woolworths she said "I don't think having to spend time in such a nasty environment is worth any type of discount."

Probably explains her dislike for people that find useful items in skips.

Apparently Jane thinks the Tesco Misprices thread is a "how to steal and cheat guide" and anyone using the information within are "cheap and sneaky people", comparing it with "pick-pocketing from the blind"

Shame that a few days later she made her own "sickening and boastful" post about a visit to Tesco where a £2 item was overcharged by £6, resulting in a £12 refund, thus getting the item FREE AND given £10 to take it away.

Then, when someone enquired about the item, she posted full details of its contents, fully described the packaging and exactly where to find it in store.

Wonder why FAGIN has just popped into my mind ?

    :rotfl: All that for me!
