it's a Mitsubishi MJ-E16V-E1 Dehumidifier
we use it to help dry clothes to reduce usage of the tumble dryer, and just finish them off in the TD, also saves on ironing:rolleyes:.
the blurb says:
"the unit can extract 1.5Kg of water from 3Kg of clothes in two hours at a cost of under 4p. That's less than 20% of the cost of using a tumble dryer."0 -

I can't work out which is cheaper:
online energy capped, ( with or without standing charge)
stanard online energy ( with or without standing charge)
Our monthly dual fuel bill is to go from estimated £80 pm to £130:(, it would've been more ( £155_pale_ ) but I just paid off £300.
The gas consumption is OK but it's the electric that's sky rocketted the bill. Not sure why it's so bad, although would expect high usage as there's 5 people at home a lot. We've used plug in delonghi heaters whilst waiting for new boiler. I charge up my mobility scooter. We run a dehumidifier 24/7 in the basement to keep it dry and avoid future bills for damp damage.

one more thing i just did a comparison on energyhelpline and simply switch. both of them are pointing me towards LE which gives me a saving of 31%. i read the thread of LE and ppl are happy about it. should i go for capped 2008 or internet account tariffs?

The power that model consumes is 275 watts. So for 24/7 running it will cost approx £15 a month given the assumptions I made above.0 -
at quidqo is now says:
'Unfortunately existing ScottishPower customers cannot use this website to change to a different ScottishPower tariff. Please contact ScottishPower directly for further details.'
I phoned SP and asked to go on the Dual Fuel Online Energy Saver , it took a bit of persistance but got it in the end.:j
it will be applied to my account when application to go online and new payment plan (agreed this morning) are processed.
Many thanks to other posters for sharing the info0 -

many thanks for helping with running costs of the dehumidifier - much appreciated.
an extra £15 per month is a fair whack on the bill, but better than having damp damage to structure of house and all the stuff we have in the basement ( it's tanked out and used a big room for all sorts), and we get dry laundry in winter.
at least I know what it's costing now - cheers :beer:0 -
Hi Volks
for start I'd recommend paying by monthly direct debit.
As mentioned in my other post, I just phoned up SP and asked for a better deal (the new tariff listed at the top of this thread) and got it.
Phone them and say you've been price checking and see what they can offer you to keep your custom.

I have my dehumidifier on 24/7 (during Winter and late Autumn, early Spring) although it does turns on and off. I did measure with a meter how much consumption is does use, it uses 620 watts when on.

Can I still change to this tarif and beat the price increase? I thought someone mentioned that the prices were fixed until October.0

Yes cdon you can. I sent an email to Scottish Power last night and they just rang me, for an extra £4 per month I can be on a capped tariff until September 2007.0
