  • i dont know if im being daft, [probably am], but a lot of people are talking about star drops what are they? where do you get them from? what do they do?

the other thing is people are also talking about soda crystals, use in every wash? even low temp? what about fragile stuff? are there any stains left like soap powder if not totally rinsed.

i learn a lot from this site and i really appreciate everyone's help and advice but am novice at trying to save money so look to all you experts for advice. xx

Stardrops are a cleaning product, can be found in some supermarkets, hardware stores etc. It's a bottle of golden -yellowy coloured liquid that can be used for doing the washing up, for cleaning surfaces and floors, for cleaning carpets and handwashing clothes.
With soda crystals I use half washing powder and half crystals in every wash. They can also be used to clean grease off surfaces and to keep drains clear.

My best saving is Martin's weekly email and then the forums!

Using the 'abroad' number to ring my bank has also saved a good bit.

Used white vinegar instead of conditioner today for the first time. Thank you, folks.

Getting my woodfired cooking range installed - free heating for the kitchen, plus free hot water [kettle on top], free airing [airer to one side], free disposal of anything cellulose based [never waste a calorie!] plus I just love stews and casseroles.

I've been lurking and occasionally posting for a while now but basically, when it comes to money, I come to MSE first - and I could [and probably do!] bore for Britain to everyone I meet about this place. Thank you Martin and all the staff, paid and unpaid.
If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!! :D
