Get wrapped up...in the house, don't automatically turn the central heating on.
Menu Plan.
Shop carefully and shop around.
Eat less junk food.
Keeping the house clean and clutter free makes my thinking clear and streamlined, odd but true.

When I'm on my own, cooking all my veg including (washed but unpeeled) spuds in one pan. Saves a second hob being on.
Forced to dry clothes without a t/dryer as the holiday flat doesn't have room for one, so radiator airers have been a godsend.
Too many Basics, Smart Price and Value items to list, that have been excellent quality.

That I can make my own roast potatoes taste nice

Wrapping meat in foil stays hot for ages (tip on here, I'd never risked an hour before) which mean't when the beef was ready earlier than expected yesterday there was no panic, managed to do the yorkies and roast potatoes after it was ready then still burnt my fingers when cutting it to serve.One day I might be more organised...........

This year has to be 'The Grocery challenge'. I really scrutinise what i'm buying and even managed it in December (by buying christmas turkey puds etc way before dec).
