right i think i am gonna cancel the dogs insurance they hardly ever go any where only ever go round block or onto the feild at back of house thats 264 quid a yr better off!!!:money:
Think very carefully before doing this... I have 2 cats and a dog and all it takes is one accident!
Dog has amongst other things managed to catch a bug that had her in intensive care on a drip for several days - bill over £500... she's cut her pad on sticks in the field, she's had a growth under her tongue that she managed to catch and which wouldn't stop bleeding - cue emergency visit to vet to have her put under and the growth removed and quarterised to stop bleeding and tests to make sure it was benign... cue a £350 bill... One of my cats tried to take on a car... £1500 later....

If the accident is not your fault then your premium shouldn't go up and the excess should be covered by the other party. Do you have witnesses that say you were going through a green light at the time? If you do then you could also look at a claim for loss of earnings against the guilty party...

If they manage to get you blamed for the accident then you will STILL have lost your no claims etc and you might not get the money back from your insurance for the work your mate has done...

Directline worked out cheaper for the cats but check if you get cashback as with 2 policies you get twice the cashback ;)

Go through the quote sites for home and contents insurance :) make sure you're neither over or under insured... most people are actually grossly over insured so check carefully :)

It's easy once you get going isn't it? :) I'll warn you now though... You WILL hit times when things go wrong or head the wrong way etc - just make sure you come on here for support and advice when it happens :) It's not the end of the world even if it might feel like it at the time :)
    Small steps :)

Sounds like you had a positive day and have saved a few quid.Myself if the bill is only going to be £700 and it will be a good job I'd go for it but only on the grounds that he'll def have it ready. As you can't afford to keep on losing money. It may end up as a 50/50 accident anyway..nothings clear cut.The risk you are taking in having it fixed yourself you may not get the money back..small risk in order to work.
