Extra Daily Allowances for breast-feeding mums
    Baby’s age
You can enjoy additional Healthy Extras on top of your usual 2a and 2b choices.
We recommend that one or preferably two of these additional choices are made from the milk and cheese section.
    Up to 2 months
    3
    2 to 3 months
    4
4 to 6 months if starting to wean
    3
4 to 6 months if breast milk is the only source of nutrient for your baby
    4
    Over 6 months when weaning
    1
We also recommend you enjoy the full 15 Syns a day.
    Calcium
The recommended daily intake of calcium for breastfeeding mums increases from 700mg to 1,250mg per day so we advise you to make at least one and preferably two of your additional selections from the Healthy Extra milk and cheese options, which are rich in calcium. The following table lists good dietary sources of calcium, providing you with plenty of healthy ways in which to increase your calcium intake:
    Calcium rich Healthy Extras
    Calcium rich Free Food
Milk and cheese selections in the healthy Extras section of Food Optimising all contain high levels of calcium. The exact amounts are as follows: There are also a number of Free Foods within Food Optimising that contain calcium. These include: 350ml skimmed milk
    420mg 100g very low fat natural/ flavoured yogurt 130mg 250ml semi-skimmed milk 300mg 100g very low fat natural/ flavoured fromage frais 90mg 175ml whole milk 200mg 100g quark 120mg 200ml goat’s milk 200mg
100g very low fat cottage cheese 75mg 250ml calcium enriched soya milk 350mg 100g sardines, canned in tomato sauce 430mg 28g Cheddar 200mg 100g pilchards, canned in tomato sauce 250mg 28g Edam 220ml 100g spinach 170mg 28g Emmental 270mg 100g purple sprouting broccoli 200mg 28g Gouda 210mg 100g curly kale 150mg 28g Parmesan 340mg 100g okra 160mg 42g Mozzarella 250mg 100g amaranth leaves 220mg 42g reduced fat Cheddar 350mg 42g reduced fat Cheshire 270mg Please note – whilst you are breastfeeding and require extra Healthy Extras you will be able to add additional ‘a’ and ‘b’ choices to the online food diary. Let us know that you are breastfeeding by checking the box on your update details page. Don’t forget to uncheck the box when you’re no longer breastfeeding and are back to the regular amount of Healthy Extras.

    Hope This Helps

our s/w member 160 posted this last year & we miss her

here's the top ten tips we got last night, see if they help anyone
    • Drink water or sugar free juices, the more the better, but don’t gulp it down as this can lower your blood pressure and make you feel faint.
    • speed foods, go through your book and pick out all the ss foods you like, and eat as much of these as you can combine in your meals, they are called “speed” foods for a reason
    • Drink a glass of water and/or juice if you still feel hungry after a meal, quite often thirst is mistaken for hunger. Even better drink one before a meal, to fill you up quicker whilst eating
    • eat breakfast – there is nothing better for getting your metabolism going than a good breakfast
    • vary your heb, your body gets fed up of eating the same all the time, sometimes a change to these can really boost your weight loss
    • vary your foods on each day – i.e. on green don’t always have baked potato and beans, on red don’t always have chicken, variety is the way to go, no one can face the same meals for the rest of there lives!!!!
    • get you magazines out, make a file of recipes, (I know this was posted earlier) and then rotate them so the same ones aren’t always at the front.
    • batch cook, put aside a couple of hours a week, to batch cook, then freeze recipes in meal size portions, ready meals for when you have one of those days you don’t want to cook, and if you do extra’s (say make 4 portions instead of 2) you start to build up a stock. This works well with veggies too, peel a big pan of potatoes and mash them at once, then freeze in portions, also with soups etc. Apparently the people who suggested this reckon they now hardly throw any food out, as its all used before it goes off, and also its reducing there food bills.
    • walking, its free, it’s easy to do, and it’s great for toning up you legs and bum. walk to the corner shop, or anywhere else you could really walk instead of using the car.
    • had a maintain/gain and don’t know why? Go back to basics, do a food diary, and be honest, you may find there is something there you haven’t been counting, or you are not always weighing your healthy extras like you should thinking you can estimate it well now cos you’ve been doing it so long.

HOPE THIS HELPS IT DID ME , IV'E KEPT IT

fantastic post - thnaks so much - great reminder :T :T

  • Afternoon all!!

Not been on much the last few days - I've been a proper little shopaholic the last few days, so haven't had time (since I've been totally shattered at night from all the walking!!). I'll catch up with the thread and post back later (Cause lets face it, at the rate this thread moves, it could easily take a few hours to catch up on a few days worth of posts! ;) ).

I've been baaaad on food since Friday night - I won't bore you all with the details! I'm back on plan today, but booked a last min hol and jet off on Wed morning so won't be sticking to it 100% while I'm away! Although, I am absolutely determined not to make a complete pig of myself and put on loads while I'm away!!

It's just gonna be a wee week chilling in the sun, so I'm hoping to fit in loads of swimming and snorkelling while I'm there, so hopefully that'll burn of a few calories!!
i've also booked in for a colonic irrigation tomorrow  and am thinking about doing one in the few days after I get back as well to minimise any damage it might do!! But we'll see how I get on tomorrow first! ;)

Well done to everyone who's sticking to the plan! Especially over the weekend - that's when I really find it tough!!

Back later to catch up properly!!

    xx

Colonics arent scary but they dont particularly make you lose weight either - just empty whats already there so to speak. So minimising the damage wont happen unless you are full of s*** :rotfl:

    Good luck

WI tonight for me but not expecting great things even though my red days went well last week. We went out to buy my birthday pressie yesterday.....£455 later OH was looking decidedly pale! (He paid £300 of that!)

Off to supermarket on way home tonight to get cakes for work, yes I am having one, no I'm not counting ANYTHING that goes into my mouth tomorrow midnight to midnight (I know its not the right way to do it but it might kick start my body :rotfl:) - cake, meal out (Mediterranean or Indian), snacks & alcohol.

Though to be fair SW is so ingrained in me I will probably be more than good the rest of the week to make up for it! :j
  • Hope you have a wonderful day Catt - is the bow wonderful? I bet it is....

The bow is FAB and the arrows are GORGEOUS! My whole kit is pretty much blue and white (my clubs shooting colours) and I'm itching to shoot with it but no practice until Thursday! Hoping I'll do it justice!
