With regards to the BNP and the Nazis just bear a few things in mind:
The Nazis allowed the SS/SA to storm the Reichstag and arrest opposition MPs
The Labour Govt allowed and have taken no action over the police entering Parliament, arresting an MP and raiding his offices WITHOUT A SEARCH WARRANT.
The Nazis told the people that the Jews were the enemy and pushed through an Enabling Act to protect the people. The Enabling Act was used against anyone that disagreed with the Nazis.
The Labour Govt has told us that Islamic Extremisim is the enemy and have pushed through the Terrorist Act. This act has been used against Iceland, an MP and countless other individuals: muslim or not!
The Nazis told the German people that Poland attacked them so they invaded Poland.
The Labour Govt told us that Iraq had WMD and were going to use them against us so they invaded Iraq.
So before you go labelling minority political parties as Fascists please take a little time to reflect on the Fascists that currently run this country!
I am not a muslim nor am I a member or fan of the BNP. But as someone who is a keen reader on Nazi Germany they're a sure amount of similarities that can be drawn with regards on what we are witnessing during what I can only call 'disturbing times'. Yes we're not at the stage of concentration camps but Guantanamo Bay is a good starter! And remember that the concentration camps did not start out as extermination camps!0 -

The use of the term Fascists is not very helpful, as it relates to a political movement that has, thankfully, passed, and so it is easy to rebut.
Most of the accusations made against fascists (and hence against those tagged as fascists) can also be made against communists.
The common ground between them is authoritarianism, heading into totalitarianism. It is the antithesis of liberalism.
So is New Labour fascist? No. Is it authoritarian? Yes. Is it the antithesis of liberalism? Yes, in practice, even if it believes itself to be liberal in principle.
Holding onto the historical tags can often occlude what's really going on.
PS - I think liberalism is a good thing. I recognise not everyone does, and I support their right to that point of view;)0 -

You compare the British Labour Party to Nazi Germany?
Should I waste my time replying to this tripe? Hmmm... I think not!
To those more within the realm of normality, I suppose if these are the best arguments that the National Front can come up with, then the rest of us can sleep more easily.0 -

What so you've been thanked how times in how many posts? Guess we can all sleep more easily knowing that only a small minority agrees with you!0 -

Dress it up as much as you like! But the commies and labourites on this board label the BNP as fascist i.e. they label them as Nazis! This current govt is following the same pattern that the Nazis did i.e. tell people they're being attacked and denounce those who disagree as un-patriotic i.e. terrorists!
I ask those - and the other d!ckhead that I just replied to - to read two books by Ian Kershaw:
Hitler: Hubris
Hitler: Nemesis
Draw your own conclusions but the route this country is taking is one of Fascism. However dressed up as NuLabour, it is still Fascism!0 -

Read it and realise how "NuLabour" is not fascist.
This is simply a point of definition. You cannot argue that it is what it is defined not to be.
What you can argue, and what I was trying to point you in the direction of, is that there are authoritarian, or even totalitarian, aspects of the current government that are inimical to a free and liberal democracy. (That these are aspects that also surface in fascism is only relevant inasmuch as they illustrate how they come from a rotten stable of policy ideas and philosophies).
I am fiercely against what this government is doing with civil liberties. But to call them what they are not is to play into their hands - it is equivalent to politicians not answering the question that should be put - except that they need do nothing apart from watch your ill-directed attacks fail because you use such stupid similes, and say "look at those nutters".0 -
There is still manufacturing industry in the UK but it is mainly concentrated in SME and foreign owned manufacturing. The SME's have to compete internationally so their margins are pretty thin and the profits from the foreign owned industries go overseas, thanks to generous incentive schemes put in place by both sides of the political arena they pay little tax directly.
Parts are manufactured in other countries, shipped to the UK for assembly and the prices for sale of these parts from one part of the corporation to another are set to minimise the loss of profit to the corporation.
Labor are not fascist any more than the conservatives are, both would seem to be more concerned with the welbeing of people in the form of corporations than people in the form of humans. The only trickle-down i've seen in recent years has been the costs of poor business practice, pollution of our food supply and flow of corporatist propaganda. More of a flood than a trickle really.
I disagree, liberlaism is a good idea and i intend to force everyone to accept it, whether they like it or not.
PS - I think liberalism is a good thing. I recognise not everyone does, and I support their right to that point of view;)"Gold is the money of kings; silver is the money of gentlemen; barter is the money of peasants; but debt is the money of slaves." - Norm Franz0 -
