It pains me to say it but I will probably vote Tory.
The labour government is hell bent on bankrupting us all. Though I might disagree with almost everything else in the Tory party, doing rather less is better than doing the wrong thing, which is exactly what Labour is doing.
You can pay to keep people on the dole or you can pay to keep people in work but either way you pay - there is no escaping that fact. The choice, in the end, is yours. Furthermore, the Tories won't spend on the NHS or education - so factor in the additional cost of private health insurance and school fees when you vote.0 -
All this talk of the Tories not proving themselves is quite right.
However, people rarely vote for change because they like the sound of the opposition. It usually happens because they want to remove the incumbents. In '97 things were fairly stable remember, people had just had enough of the Conservatives.
FWIW, I think we're looking at an electoral bloodbath in 2010. Even if the recovery is under way (not certain by any means), the feeling that a change is needed will be prevalent and the memories of this recession will be very painful.
