People in Northern towns generally vote Labour whatever the situation with the economy as they remember how Thatcher completely shafted them during the 80's....

Personally I cant relate to Cameron at all. He just tries far too hard to be normal when clearly he is privilaged. As for Osborne......He reminds me of one of the contestants on the Young Ones bambi episode....Rah Rah Rah were going to smash the Oiks.......

Dont think I'll bother next year as they are all much the same and completely out of touch with real life. Too many snouts in the trough in politics!

    That's the one.

She won one because of the hard fought luck (and loss of lives) in the Falklands. The others due to gerrymandering and selling the Nation's silver (Gas, Water, Electricity and Council Houses to name but four). We complain now about the lack of social housing but choose to forget the root cause.

I don't normally speak ill of the dead but (soon) I'll make an exception for Thatcher.

    morning!!!

The only time I'd vote now is if Vince Cable was the lib dem leader. All parties have shown how little they are able to cope with the current issues. Vince is the ONLY politician I have any time for, the rest are clueless and after lining their own pockets as far as I can tell.......
  • How did it do under the Tories? (I don't know the answer).

    GG

I don't either - or rather I don't know the "correct" question to answer. I understand that there is plenty of evidence to suggest that social mobility has reduced more under labour than under conservatives; what I am sufficiently cynical about is whether that evidence is compelling and complete.

The point remains, however, that headline figures like this should be an embarassment to this government. If they resulted from Conservative government, I would be embarassed.

And it's worth remembering that labour do consistently tax the country generally more than Conservatives, in the name of redistribution, so everything else being equal, they should have a better performance to show for the increased investment/redistribution.

People in the north east where I live will vote Labour. They would vote labour if you put a monkey up for election.

Don't insult monkeys – you could say 'if you put Hitler or Stalin up for election' instead.

I agree with you. However, I think Cameron is the lesser of the two evils (when compared to Clown and his henchmen), given that the Lib Dems are unlikely to get elected (unfortunately). The very thought of Clown having an (elected) term in office after the next elections makes me feel ill.

Couldn't agree more, unfortunately some of this group seem to like their position in society and will therefore continue to vote for anyone who will support this!
Wouldnt it be great to have a no contribution/no vote law brought in, I'd say fairer also,we could then have more say on what our own TAXPAYERS money is spent on!!!!

I'm waiting to see if Our Leader will pull a Chavez and try and implement a change in the constitution so that he can lead us indefinitely whilst he is saving the world.

That's 'Our Glorious Leader'. :D Soon, you will be seeing giant posters of this true giant of a man, defender of the common masses, on every street and in every office, Soviet communist style. There will be a new triumphant marching song dedicated specially to Him as saviour of the world. Every workplace, every home, will resound with His name. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Taking a leaf out of that other glorious leader's book, he will pronounce (Gollum-style): 'Britain is mine'.

Do you really think any of those things would have been different if the Tories had been in power for the last 11 years?

If there would have been a difference, it would have only been because it would have been much worse.

The rich would be even richer than they are now and the poor would be even poorer.
