Poll: Who Will You Be Voting For In The Next General Election?

I'll be voting Labour as normal next election. Yes, things should have been better and a lot mroe needs to be done.
All the Tories have is a few young, friendly faces for the cabinet but after them, it's a party of grumpy old pensioners who liked the old 'England' Don't want them thanks!
You'll be voting Labour as normal next election? What's normal about a bunch of greedy misfits who only have their own interests at heart?
They use fools like you to bring them votes. While they sit around in their luxury homes dining on lobster and swigging chablis (paid for by you!) you'll be out grafting for the minimum wage. Of course, they'll try and pretend they love fish and chips eaten out of newspaper (just like Blair did when he was fooling all of you) but in reality they'll be laughing at you behind your backs!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Years ago the Labour government were there to help the poor; but that's no longer the case. Now the Labour government want you to stay poor and uneducated so they can manipulate you and make you vote for them.
It's disgusting!:money:0 -

I suppose at least the Conservatives are honest about it.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Labour were forced by the IMF to introduce monetarism which stalled inflation for a while. Then their 'Incomes Policy' held down inflation as did the fact that large parts of British Industry were in national ownership so prices could be held down by diktat in the short term.
Then the Winter of Discontent blew apart the incomes policy and meant that prices had to rise substantially, thus reigniting inflation.
Howe got it in the neck for increasing interest rates in the teeth of recession in the 1981 budget IIRC. It was necessary to bring inflation under control IMO.
While no one would defend Labour from Feb 1974 - May 79, they inherited inflation running at 13% (Conservative - Heath) and just like in Thatchers first year, inflation increased to 20% within 10 months.
Interest rates didn't go up in the 1981 budget.
The 1981 budget was a however a deflationary one at a time when the economy was contracting.
It really is not that difficult to tackle inflation when there are 3 million unemployed (and a whole lot more hidden on incapacity benefit).
What excuse can there be for the fact that inflation was back up at 10% after 11 years in power - was this Labours fault as well.
Other Thatchers myths.
1) She reduced the tax burden.
2) She reduced Government spending.
It was John Major government that reduced the above 2 to levels I suspect we are unlikely to see again in the next 15 years.US housing: it's not a bubble
Moneyweek, December 20050 -
Is this the same Margaret Thatcher that won 3 general elections in a row?
Tories were in for 18 years the last time round and despite the crap that went on it is still nothing in comparison to what we're seeing now. Yes people had it good for 10 years and now they're going to have it bad for the next ten years.
Besides, there is a significant majority that will not know the Thatcher years...just like the significant majority who in 1997 did not know the Wilson/Callaghan years!
That's the one.
She won one because of the hard fought luck (and loss of lives) in the Falklands. The others due to gerrymandering and selling the Nation's silver (Gas, Water, Electricity and Council Houses to name but four). We complain now about the lack of social housing but choose to forget the root cause.
I don't normally speak ill of the dead but (soon) I'll make an exception for Thatcher.0 -
I'm waiting to see if Our Leader will pull a Chavez and try and implement a change in the constitution so that he can lead us indefinitely whilst he is saving the world.0

At least she kept the gold! This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
The number of people who have been on benefits for more than five years has increased nearly 30% under Labour.
Official statistics show that since 1999 the number of long-term claimants has grown from 1.84m to 2.34m

So much for social mobility.
How did it do under the Tories? (I don't know the answer).
GGThere are 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those that don't.0 -

I have always found it extraordinarily distasteful how much glee some people seem to reserve for the anticipated demise of Thatcher - something that is not evident amongst the right regarding the death of left wing politicians.
I simply don't buy the theory that it is purely a product of her being "bad", and the left being "good" - I think it's much more related to the absence of decency amongst some people.0 -

I don't think this poll is representative of the UK. This website has more than it's fair share of right-wingers, I seem to remember the tories being way ahead on polls here before the last general election.
I fear the Tories will get in, then God help us all.:eek:0
