I had a call from the OR yesterday saying that they had no interest in my little boy's savings account and are sending his paying in book back asap! Two bits of good news in a week - whats going on!!!! Lets hope it continues and for all of us too!
  • well done, lovely to hear that things are starting to go well for you.

I can't quite believe it has been a year since I last wrote on this thread! This time last year I had a lot of personal challenges and coming on here became the last thing to think about.
I had a letter in June from the OR and on seeing it, I had that familiar dread of not wanting to open the post, but I figured it couldn't be any worse than what I had been through, so I opened it and found out I'd been discharged on the 1st June, just over 6 months early!
I think one of my saving graces has been the fact that I have a small box with some envelopes in, they are marked with the things that were on my SOA - not the DD ones, things like car tax, car repairs, hair cuts, emergencies, petrol etc and each month when I get paid I put the allocated amount in the envelope, it means that when I need to pay for something, then I have the money ready, I've even managed to save enough that I took my little boy to Cornwall for 5 days last summer.
Thanks to everyone who gave me advise and support on here when I needed it most, if anyone can take anything from what I have been through on here then thats a good thing.

Thanks for sharing your experience of BR, it is really useful to those of us who are just starting out along this journey.

  • Thank you for updating your diary ANewEra. I've just read through it as I will probably be going BR fairly soon. Like dojoman says, it's really useful to those of us just starting out on the bankruptcy road. It's great to hear from people who have come out the other side.
I went to my GP this morning and was put on anti-depressants (not just the financial worry but the break up of a 10 year relationship plus some work issues.) She tried to talk me out of going bankrupt but that was the advice from th CCCS Debt Remedy.
Well done on the early discharge.
PS what happened about the IPO?

I didn't have an IPO. After the initial interview with the OR and then the conversation about my son's bank account, I didn't hear from her until I got my early discharge notice.

I need to concentrate on cleaning my credit files up now. I got a copy from experian and equifax, think I need one from call credit too, have read a few things on her about doing it, but just not had the time to sit down and concentrate and really figure out how to exactly - anyone got experience of this part?

leave the clean up a month or two after discharge....you'll need call credit/equifax & experian's statatory credit files around £2 each

Thanks Philnicandamy! Looks daunting, but nothing can be as bad as those BR forms initially! Will definitely give you a shout if I get stuck, thanks again.

it can look a little scary...but once you start they're much much easier than the dreaded BR petition forms
