Got another question here...does anyone know if the £200 my ex pays as child maintanence is taking into consideration for the IPA or is it just the child benefit that is not considered? I still have not heard anything from the OR, or from anyone really, excpet the weird thing about council tax, still have no idea about that - anyone else had similar letter?

Had a bit of good news today - letter from Halifax saying that the OR has no interest in my account, and I have to close it and they will send me a cheque. I had only left about £4 in it on court day, but due to a mess up with my child benefit that went in there too. So apart from the £15 they took as I had not thought to cancel my SO for rent I should be getting about £60 soon!!! yey!!! Oh and as have not heard a peep from tax credits/child benefit people when I was PROMSIED a call back, well at least I get most of that months CB now.....

Just going to bump this up, to see if anyone has any advice or experience re my council tax question..? thanks!
  • ANewEra I have really enjoyed readingyour posts, I too have now decided on BR. We were also the same as you, both working bringing in decent money when I had to go on the sick losing more than £500 per month in income. We finally decided that we would enter an IVA as we didn't know which way to turn but, have now decided that BR is the better option. I hate feeling that everything we do is being watched and will carry on for another 4 years. Feeling a failure is the worst part but, it is only the people on here that actually keep me going. I might not add much but, I am always looking at other peoples threads and knowing we are not alone is a great help.

Had a very strange letter today - has anyone else had this happen..?

Two days ago I had a letter from council tax saying that Feb payment would be £264...on further investigation I worked out that they had not taken the DD for Jan (no wander I had more money than I thought in my acc!) so Feb's was for two payments.
Then today I receive a letter from them saying "I am writing to you to confirm that the Council have agreed to the following payment arrangement to clear your council tax" balance £263.99 - Please note that £112.64 has been included in your claim for bankruptcy and does not need to be paid - Installment due on 01/02/09 £151.35

Why has this happened? I was not in arrears with the CT, have been paying by DD with no issues at all. Why have they included £112 in the BR? (not that I'm complaining at £112 off!) but I find it very strange. Has anyone had this happen or any idea why?

Don't worry some councils do this and in April you will get a new bill for the 2009/10 council tax year. Don't worry about it.

Yes it is I am afraid. CHB is the only thing that isn't taken into account.

Had a call from the OR today. She was asking for proof that my little boys account was actually in his name and I am just a trustee, so if I send her this proof (his bank book) then she will release the account and take no money from it. Will send it recorded delivery tomorrow. That is one weight of my mind, also got the cheque from halifax today for the £60 odd that was left in that account. Good day all round really!

Yes, thank goodness, have had a crappy few days so am feeling bit more positive about things now. Was wandering why I had not heard anything from the OR yet, other than the initial interview anyway.
  • On a completely random note, where does your OR come from?
