  • I booked LPL-DUB for a long day trip, fly out 1st thing, back on the last flight of the day and it cost £0.08 for 4 adults, no taxes or charges and I used my housemate's Electron card to book1 Happy days.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

I've read about a few people travelling on their driving licenses. Can you do that to all EU countries or just Ireland?

I've booked a day trip to Cork for a family of four for 8p! Any suggestions on the cheapest way from the airport to the City Centre & back please ?
  • As an extra moneysaving tip, make sure you get the normal city bus rather than the 'Airport Express' one - ten minutes longer on the journey time will save you about 5euros each way per person. Also, buy tickets at the tourist info desk in the terminal building to avoid the queues outside. hth

Cheaper still to buy a Family Rambler day pass for 11 Euros which you can use on the Airport Express as well as local buses and you don't need to have kids to be a family! Buy at the bus kiosk to the left hand side of the exit.

Yes, perhaps, if you're going to be using the local buses. If you don't plan to leave the city centre, surely it's better to pay just 1.90 euros each for a single journey?

No, only Ireland, and it only applies for UK citizens. Theoretically no documents are needed but in practice this only works when arriving by road or bus: all passengers arriving by air are processed together so you need to show photographic proof of identity (the photo driving licence, for example) AND proof that you're arriving from the UK (i.e. your boarding pass). This is because only UK/Irish citizens qualify - Americans flying Stansted-Cork, for example, have to enter Ireland 'properly', as do Brits arriving from a non-UK country.

The National Identity Card, assuming it is ever introduced properly, will be sufficient to allow entry to all EU/EEA countries.
  • i went to spain on my driving license
    Waddle you do eh?
  • You have to keep checking the price as they can change daily for the same flights, we paid £2 (used Electron which is easy to get from the Halifax) for return flights to Milan from Manchester, looking again a few days later showed the price as £45.
  • might be worth looking at flybmi sale for certain destinations.

we saved more money there and the airports available were a million times more convienent for us.

won't be better for most people but in some circumstances it might be.
