Pinkfairy - that poem is lovely, thankyou.

My sister read that at my mother's funeral. It's very special to us and I think it helps us to remember that our loved ones are still with us, even when we can't see them.

All wrapping finished, so now chilling nicely, but in the next break on Midsomer, I'm going to put away a few bits in the kitchen. DS has put the gammon in the slow cooker for me (for tea time), and everything else is in hand.

This is quite unnerving. Everything I am bothered about is done. I should be running round like a headless chicken by now, and wrapping stuff at midnight.

DH has gone to bed still with man flu (again  ) and I am bored, presents are out ready and I just have the stockings to do - even they are a straight exchange as I bought four and just need to swap for the full ones. I have never had time to be bored on Christmas Eve before. Think I might have to go back to chaos for next year :o .

If you think it is cooked and you plan to eat it tomorrow then you need to bring it out to get it to room temp and then get it in the fridge within an hour or so. If you leave it in the oven it may over cook, and you still need to cool it and fridge it.

I am with Nigel Slater on thinking the crispy bits are the best bits.

SNAP! I've never been able to sit down with my feet up on Christmas Eve. All I have to do is transfer the contents of carrier bags (one per stocking) into the stockings when the "little people" (the youngest being 17) have disappeared. And quickly tidy the kitchen in preparation for morning. Weird or what? I think it must be Pigpen's fault for getting me organised.

Even the Christmas table cloths, best table mats and my table decoration were on the table for dinner tonight. Glassware's polished and will we'll need to do is set the table.
