I find it all rather meaningless to say 10 retailers are in trouble, if those 10 can't be named.0

this is all part of the media frenzy though isn't it? 10-15 was a report I heard yesterday. today, on sky news, it's 15 (because it would be wouldn't it) and no less.
they are continuing to assist the slide by talking it up. worst case scenario everytime.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
It appears telegraph.co.uk has the story. They've not gone yet, but look to be on the way.
I have to say I do find the way so many on here are actively glorying in these stories distasteful at best - I wonder how those who are so quick to rub their hands together in glee would feel if their husband, wife, son, daughter or father worked for one of these ailing retailers? If you are someone who has never found yourself in a redundancy situation then you are indeed blessed - for your sake I hope that continues, however, there are one or two on here who would seeimingly benefit from a short sharp shock of that sort.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

No I don't either and I was a working adult at the time, though still living with my parents. On Fridays the news used to report x amount of redundancies x amount of jobs created with a map of U.K.jm28cardiff wrote: »What happened in the last recession, I dont remember loads of chains going down?
I definately don't remember the 'big household names' going and also the speed with which they are going. Recently I've driven past 3 pubs/restaurants near me that have always been there, and suddenly they are all boarded up.0 -

Pubs are suffering badly as a result of the smoking ban though - you can expect to see plenty more going the way of those three as things continue to tighten as people choose to drink more cheaply at home where they can smoke rather than going out to pay more for their alcohol and have to stand in the cold for a fag as well.

C and A went down (in the 1990's I think). Also, whatever happened to Radio Rentals?
Of course we used to have so many different outlets so a store in, perhaps, the North of England might fail but no one know much about it unless living close to their three branches. There was no internet and a three branch closure won't hit the tabloids.
Nowadays, every city centre is the same. In fact, the city centre I went to today has two Boots and three Superdrug! No, it's not a massive city. !!!!!! is all that about?0
