Would you really want to buy a TV without warranty?
That's what you'll get if the retailer goes bust.
The manufacturer may have a "return to base" warranty but the "return" could work out expensive.

Six months ago a pound was worth 14 Chinese Yuans - now it's worth 10. As the value of the pound continues to fall against most currencies, the price of all imports will go up. That means that suppliers will soon be increasing their prices. Buy now while things are still cheap. It won't last!

I wasn't for a moment suggesting you buy from a shop which may go bust - was just pointing out the mess that the high street is in!

Warranties from good brands will be honoured by the manufacturer anyway, and any authorised service centre acting as an agent for the brand can carry out repairs (e.g. Sony), without sending it back to the originator.

Personally, as I said above, wait until Jan, and buy from a top quality store such as John Lewis, but in a good sale, or queue for the amazing sales in Harrods or Selfridges, where the first few expensive items are at give away prices, proper sales!

I'd try 1staudiovisual.co.uk, i recently got a great samsung 50" plasma for £725, and just noticed they have 50" plasma's for £683.00 on the site today. Service was excellent.

What has this got to do with Ryanair being a rip-off?

If someone could answer that with any certainty, they'd be rich. The Pound is really low against both the Dollar and the Euro at the minute, so now might not be the best time, but then again, it could fall further.

Nine months ago was the best time to buy from the US; what will happen in the future is anybody's guess.
  • Can anyone give me 1 example of an electrical household item that has increased in price the longer they are available?

Very unlikely that there will be a substantial % increase in lcd tv's in my opinion.

I know where your coming from. But then weve NEVER been in this bad a situation before. As the value of the pound drops then we may well see increases.
Its the same as if youd asked ANYONE a year ago if woolies was about to shut down........

  • If you need a new TV and the Christmas holidays are here and plenty of time to watch all your favourite films ,WHY are you waiting for next year, if you will make good use of it, get one soon.

If it cost a store £500 to buy a model of TV nine months ago, and now it costs the store £650 for the same model, what do you imagine will happen to the price to the consumer?
