The thought by "experts" is that they won't get cheaper and in some cases may increase in price as the low £ is causing higher import prices. Balance this with lack of sales in high value electrical items and who knows?

I would try and grab one in the January sales as there was talk of them increasing in price next year due to the pound being low against the yen. I have a Sony 32v4000 which was under £400 and I am very happy with it. You should check out http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-televisions/ if you want to ask questions on what TV to buy.

LCD's follow the same life cycles as PC's which result in prices always coming down.
    • a new model will come out over priced, must have die hards will buy it
    • a few months later it'll come down in price to attract the next level of consumer and slowly the price will go down.
    • a year later a new set of models come out and the old models have a big price drop to attract the budget buyers until they stop getting manufacturing the old models
Don't believe any "experts" who have a vested interest in sell products at the best price possible

My personal opinion is that because were in a world wide economic meltdown, its just a matter of time before one of the big electronic retailers falls. Theyll drop the prices (like woolworths), and force all the other retailers to do the same to keep up sales.
WHEN this will happen is another matter, but id guess SOME time in 2009.

If the value of the £ keeps falling, prices of imports ( read LCD TV's ) will rocket upwards.

RUMOUR IS OF A 30% PRICE RISE.

Apparently the LCD TV and monitor manufacturers have got fed up with the bombing prices and are planning on whacking them up as it's getting to the point where it's not worth making them anymore.

This looks like an excellent idea to enable them to go out of business, saying "nobody would buy our products at extortionate prices"!

I suspect there can be no valid answer to the OP's question, and any of those supplied is simply a guess.

Various points of view are all valid, but personally I'd definitely wait until Jan, they are rumouring 10 to 15 high street stores to fold during January (covered in this Sunday's Sunday Times Business section), and with other big stores also experiencing low sales, there will be some very good Jan sales to generate quick income, and get increased footfall, I'd not be buying anything expensive now until the Jan sales.
