Canon EOS300D Digital SLR Camera for £429.94

  • Hi,

Had my eos operational since wednesday, got a cheap 1 gig Kingston card from e-buyer (£41+vat). I think its a 40x card. However, managed to also do the Hitachi 4gig Drive trick. If you can get hold of a Creative Muvo2 MP3 player (version 1). It has a 4 gig drive inside. You can remove the drive, format it fat32 on your PC and it works in the camera. So far I've had no problems ... Its a bit slower than the kingston but has 3.81 Gb free, or approximately 1000-1200 6megapixel pics (woof) - the max displayed is 999 so I cant tell you the proper number.

There's quite a few dedicated sites to opening the muvo
and preparing it for your camera, just use google if you're feeling brave. I did notice on e-bay that theres loads of the players without drives up for sale. You can put a flash card in the player - but its hit and miss wheather it'll accept it .. mine didn't with the kingston, but i'm not that bothered as the muvo cost me £100 second hand off a matey. Maybe the free 256 card will work making the muvo an even bigger bargain ...

The reason this is so popular is that the drive at its cheapest is anything from £190 (dabs) to $450 in the U.S.

    ::) ::) ::)
  • Heard about the Muvo trick the other day- madness and good on you for finding one of the original models. I'm told the later models still have the same microdrives but they are deliverately crippled to avoid people buying up and ripping out.

The wonders of marketing hey?! Am sure the change wasn't driven by Creative, but by a worried hard drive manufacturer!

  • Camera is back in stock at PC World with 10% off the web price and free delivery.

Have checked with Canon UK and this is a genuine UK camera and eligible for both the £100 cashback and the free memory card.

Use discount codes DCBYAW or TEACHERPCW to get an extra 5% discount to bring price to £510.40 inc. delivery.

Taking into account the cashback and the memory card deal, this camera is costing you less than £400!

On the PC World Website the "web exclusive" price is £596.96, so where's the 10% discount?

Sigh, out of stock again!! >:(
  • On the PC World Website the "web exclusive" price is £596.96, so where's the 10% discount?

If the camera is in stock, add to your basket and the discount is then deducted. At this point you can also use the other discount codes.

Problem is that they seem to go out of stock very quickly.

I was fortunate enough to place an order yesterday morning, but I have been waiting since the sale started for there to be stock available.

    Good hunting!

    Mike
