BTW looking at the £100 cashback form (downloaded the one from Canon), there's no mention of providing a serial number for the camera so how would Canon know that it was US sourced

Canon told me that the cameras were US. sourced when I rang them up ...

They seem rather suspicious when I told them I'd bought it from currys. When you get the chance to look at the box, theres a square sticker on the side that is covering something up. I was curious at the time because I thought it might be the 8 digit offer code, but its another sticker with the camera serial number and other details on, which I couldn't really make out because of it starting to rip ....

on another note ... I bought an epson picturemate off the currys site at £99 + post ... they also had it on the site for £122 ... why twice I don't know but after 2 days they've cancelled it without giving a reason .... here we go again .......

I got mine a few days ago after ordering from Currys online. I have ordered the 256MB card already (mine had a circular sticker on the top with a code on which was needed when registering with the specified website) and am in the process of getting the £100 rebate, so no problems yet
  • Have now bought my EOS 300D from Jessops in Leicester, who price matched currys website at £596.

It's definitely a UK camera with compact flash sticker on the box.

No waiting , no checking the website for stock and more importantly no worries if anything should go wrong.

    Hope everyone else get's there's!
  • Well after spending ALL day Saturday last week in front of the PC on curry’s website chasing ghosts that 2 become available and then go,then calling currys stores to be told “ we are to busy to take your call” and then being laughed at,that was the Manchester Ancoats store. A letter of complaint ( sent recorded and they have received it Tuesday Am ) to there Sheffield office and Dixon’s head office and guess what no answer no apology. So my advice is buying such a hi-tech and expensive piece kit is stay well clear of this lot and in the end I bought the Nikon D70 and ok it was more but got good advice - UK spec.
Tell it as it should be....

Finally found the bl**dy code, sticker was stuck to the box they'd sent it in rather than the Canon box..
  • No stock, price has gone up and 10% discount finished sad.gif.

But, if stock does come in at least they're now doing £35 off orders over £350, not as good as 10% but at least it's something.

To claim your £35 discount, enter this unique code: AFF35OFF in the promotional code box on the basket page, then press update. Your £35 discount will then be displayed.

    Terms & Conditions

  • went into currys prepared for trouble ... took printouts of the offer and the canon website ... and didn't need it they were expecting me apparently from the e-mail I sent earlier to customer services .. they erm .. peeled a sticker off another box and gave me it ...

gotta say i'm impressed with their customer services even if the e-mail was marked 'dixons customer services ... '

anyway i've got my cf256 serial no.

happy happy .... joy joy .....
  • I received my order earlier in the week and have now decided i don't want it...if anyone wants to buy it off me at cost price (529.94) + p&p (+paypal fees if you wanna do it that way) pm me otherwise it's going back to currys

ps. have phoned up about £100 cashback and i can tell you what you have to do to get it if you're concerned

EDIT: has the sticker for free 256 memory card on front too

    UPDATE: gone now!
