I don't understand how goods by any sort of measure can be down only 2% when recession is starting to bite, retailers are closing, and factories are having enforced holidays. The only thing I can think we might still be importing is Pot Noodles.

Hey doll, probably best if you don't try to think huh?;)

That reminds me. Probably Pot Noodles and certain imported 'reading' material from Holland maybe? Just what you need to get through a recession. ;)

A head honcho from Manchester Airport was on the radio this afternoon, he made the following two points:
Over 50% of Britain's import/export of goods by value now travel by air.(?!?)
    Airfreight is down 30%
Anecdotally, every clothing wholesaler I know is bringing in less product than this time last year. Most of it is flown in.

mewbie I think you misunderstood what agent orange meant, what he was stating I believe is that the total import/export freight by air would amount to about 2% the rest I assume would be shipped by boat, which if you think how much a ship can carry compared to a plane I would say that quite feasible.
