Thanks all for the congrats for DS1. He actually has Aspergers Syndrome which is high functioning autism. He was not diagnosed until he was 14 and has had a rough couple of years. He moved out of school to a specialist until in a hospital for the last year where despite being told at the last school he would leave with no qualifications he actually left with 5 GCSE passes, two of which were Bs. He went for this interview along with 9 other people and decided he would not tell anybody about the Aspergers (to be honest you would not know, just think he was a bit quiet). I cannot believe he came out top and got the job. I thought at one point he would never achieve anything. He has now got a lovely girlfriend, is a happy boy and bagged this fantastic apprenticeship opportunity, more than I could ever have hoped for! I am so very proud of him.:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T

Pipsmum just read another thread. Are you sure you have not had sausages for tea???!!!

Lemon Tree, your sister's idea with the ingredients and jar is fantastic, will definitely be pinching that one!

I thought my in laws were bad, not so sure when I read your stories. Why do they do it?? I am going to try hard to be a nice in law when my boys are older and have partners.

    Have a good evening all.

Pips mum i love the smileys which hit each other, we never get to that stage, but i did end up sitting in the living room for 7 hours, 6 hours of which MIL spent conducting all her conversations in Italian, not that she was trying to exclude me or anything - yer right. but at least the duty is done for a few more months. Funny thing is FIL anounced that when we have a baby our flat won't be big enough so we'll have to get a bigger place with gas. Like it all just grows on trees, and hey we've been married less than a year maybe we don't want a honeymoon baby.
love the idea of tea lights, i've got some glass paints which have just sat in a box for years, guess i could do something similar. My sister has got some £1 airtight jars and is layering in the ingredients for a cake, which she'll then print out at attach with a ribbon and a spoon, she nicks all the good ideas! Heaven know's what i'll be doing this year, last year i got away with wedding photo's but will have to have a rethink this year.

Wow that is an absolutely brilliant idea re the cake in the jar suggestion xx

My stripey Jumper came and its fab, 90% Merino wool and 10% silk, not bad for an Ebay cheapy!!

Also carrying on knitting the Daisy bag for my best friend, its coming along nicely. To top it off I have a couple of cross stitches on the go too!

    !!

WHO IS THIS FRIEND YOU TALK OF? AND WHY ARE YOU KNITTING HER MY BAG?????????

(only kidding) keep up the good work

    Waves to all.

Why don't any of you live near me - I am bored without you all

Can't wait til work gets better or well just goes really.

I don't think I am designed for work - or any sort of sustained effort.

Mrs Stripey Weasley I have a confession

I saw a jumper just like the one you bought, but with a zip and a hood (so not really like yours at all) - at the european market which was here on Saturday so I bought it for me and DD. We are having a jumper share arrangement. Its a bit naughty to have something so silly (not that cheap but we thought why not). So sorry for 'copying' you.

We got ours on Saturday - does that mean we copied you or you copied us?? :):):)

And a wonderful daisy tablecloth you know the plasticy kind that you can just wipe.

    Looks ace.

    Anyway about this bag.................................:D

We miss you too Fay - Shall me and Pip come up to you? He can poop on horrible supervisor! I love the fact you too have a stripey jumper, I saw a zipup one on Ebay too but it was going for too much money.

Spends thats lovely about your son doing so well, despite what many would call "adversity". My friends 19 yr old son has the same and to be honest has not done so well with his life. He sleeps on the floor of a druggies house and there is absolutely nothing she can do about it, social services cant do anything as he is 19. It breaks her heart. I am o pleased that your son is doing so well for himself.

Mum2one - there are several jar gifts on the internet

So funny, in all honestly I did an order Monday with Halfcost, (and I'd got no idea what I really ordered, was on auto pilot)

Parcel just come and Id ordered 3 Winne The Pooh Cook jars, there about 9 in high, glass, and were only £1.00

Just went back to order some more and theyve been sold out - sods law, so what I'm going to do is get a pack of posh bicuits and put the packet in the jar, happens to come at right time as Auntys bday on Sat, and she is winnie the pooh mad xx

hi sorry was away for the weekend visiting the out laws - i survived as did they so things could have been worse.
The mincemeat cake is really easy
    4oz marg
    4oz brown sugar
    2 large eggs
    12oz mincemeat
    7oz sr flour
little milk if necessary (i've never found it necessary yet)
i just shove it all in the bowl and mix together, it ends up gooey but not too runny.
    15 mins at 160 and then 1 - 1 1/4 hrs at 150.
I put mine in a tall 7" tin
Made this last night - had some tonight when got home from work with a cuppa tea - hubby says it reminds him of Granny Cake that you used to be able to buy. Absolutely yum. Thank you LemonTree:T

Chev - Havent heard any more about the charges from OHs work. Its so frustrating  Is that because OH is burying his head in the sand, or that his payroll are completely inept....?

Well I have been a naughty girl and not done a meal plan for this week but do you know what.....Im hating it. Back to square one with "what shall we have for dinner?" Sometimes I sort of meal plan in my head.... but it doesn't always work...

My stripey Jumper came and its fab, 90% Merino wool and 10% silk, not bad for an Ebay cheapy!! I too have a stripy jumper, and now I think of Fay lol when i wear it!!!

Also carrying on knitting the Daisy bag for my best friend, its coming along nicely. To top it off I have a couple of cross stitches on the go too! I have WAY TOO MUCH wool so please tell me what one of these is?

Ive finished my blanket for soweto so need to wrap and post that, again what is this. Are you posting it direct to south africa? If so I could post something just as easily from here.. Let me know cos I have WAY TOO MUCH wool (have I mentioned that?)

No debt busting going on, just surviving!!

Oh and well done spendtoomuch DS for getting the apprenticship. He must have done really well, as all I hear from the UK is apprneticships being cut...

thank you Angela, i like the cake as well, i'm not a large fan of heavy fruit cakes or even of mince pies but this ticks all my boxes and is so simple to make. You made me smile that someone used my receipe and liked it.
