Glad you got some Christmas pressies in the Boots sale. I went and looked, thinking I would spend my Boots points on some bits and I wasn't inspired by anything so decided to leave the points on the card for another time.

Let us know how you get on with the job applications. When you complete the application form - do it in draft on your PC first (blank word document will do), then read it back - and check it against what is being asked for in the job description and person specification. As a manager I shortlist and interview quite often and it's amazing how many people apply who have the right qualifications but don't expand in the section where it asks for experience etc. We use a shortlisting grid and write down the left column the essential requirements of the job, followed by the desirable requirements. For each requirement applicants score 2 if they definitely meet the requirement (or have identified they meet it), 1 if they have partially met the requirement, and 0 if they have not mentioned anywhere in their application about the requirement. At the end of the shortlisting the scores for all applicants are totalled up and the top 5 or 6 are invited for interview.....so getting the application form right and matching what is asked for in the job description and person specification is key to being shortlisted for an interview.

    Good luck :)

So just when I thought we were doing Ok, and I thought this might be the actual year I finally become debt free we find out Mr Pip Weasley is being made redundant again as of end of March :(
He has already applied for a few things and has an interview next week so fingers crossed we will be ok. Just another kick though.

    Hellooooo Helloooo!

Flying in for a quick update at the end of what has to have been the worst month ever :-(

Pip fell off his broke and broke his arm, he has been so, so, so brave and it is going to cost me dearly in treats!

No luck on the job front for Mr Pips which is becoming a little worrying now as he only has work until March 27th. I am in the process of building a little stock pile, helped greatly by some fab 10p bargains at work! I am also trying to work any extra hours that come up but it's quite limited. We should get Bonus next month, it's being announced on 12th March what % we are getting so fingers crossed for a nice chunk so I can clear at least 1 debt.

We cancelled our Main Family Holiday that was due to happen beginning of April, almost certainly we couldn't have afforded it so it made sense to just cancel whilst it was in the fee free period. As it was with work we hadn't paid any deposit which was a relief.

Still making over minimum payments on my debts but obviously will probably need to drop those down soon.
    Here's my totals:

    • Tesco £2,275
    • Isme £385
    • Next £142
    • IDEM £316
    • Santander £640
    • Total = £3758

Quite excited as we are going to stay in the Legoland Hotel next weekend, a treat we had booked as Pips Birthday present. he park isn't open but there looks like lots going on still and it was a quarter of the price for when it's open! Pip will LOVE it, its just such a shame he won't have his cast off as it means he won't be able to go in the cool looking pool.

TTFN and hopefully next update will bring some better news job wise

    Hi Hi!

I am so, so sorry it's been so long since I updated here, I suck what else can I say!

So lets begin the update on the Job front. Mr Pip Weasley was out of work for a month, longer than we wanted but a lot better than it could have been. He started the new job and it quickly became apparent that the new boss was a massive c**k and really horrible to work for, he picked fights with staff and all sorts! Mr Pips had a day off to come to the hospital with Pip and by chance managed to get an interview booked in for the same day and he got it! So he now works at a much nicer place for a little bit more money than he was on so yay! :T

Luckily we overpay the mortgage so when we rang them to say he had no job they told us we had 4 months to not worry about it, which was a massive relief. We have continued overpaying again now.

I've got a 2nd job now which is going well. I am a business administrator for a small but growing company, I can do the majority at home in my PJs ! The business belongs to one of the Mums at school so she is totally in favour of the kids coming first, she gives me jobs to do and says do it when you can. There's no set hours just as and when I can so its great. Still at Waities doing 2 evenings a week and overtime where I can.

Still been paying my debts, over minimums but only just so here are my new totals.

    Tesco £2,000
    Isme £310
    Next £82
    IDEM £196
    Santander £588

    Total = £3176 :j

Trying to decide if I think I can pay it all off by the end of the year? I haven't added to it at all this year which is HUGE, 1st year ever :D

Christmas is well in the bag for this year which I am thrilled about, Pea is all sorted as are quite a few of my list. Apart from Pip and Mr Pips I know what everyone else is getting and have budgeted for it all so I am pretty confident there won't be as much of a panic moment in December.

Also playing around with some numbers to see if we can afford a trip to centre parcs towards the end of the year, I have seen some good deals for Oct, Nov and Dec. I know it will be chilly but there looks like lots we can do.

Pip still hasn't had to have surgery for his Hirschsprungs disease, it got a bit close to it a couple of months ago as they were not happy with his tummy being so bloated. I did some googling and swiched him to a low gluten diet and also started him seeing an Osteopath and so far he has lost 5 inches of bloating around his tummy which is epic! We go back again in August but I am still hopeful he will avoid surgery.

    So yeah that's us!

    How are you all?

I must, must Must, MUst, MUS, MUST post more often as it helps to me to keep my eyes on the debt free prize!
