No Money Mummy to Millionaire Mummy!!

Pips mum with regard to debts its always worth asking if they will accept a lump sum finalamount - when we were paying ours off we had a year to go on one when out of the blue they contacted us and made us an offer that was just about doable, and knocked eleven months off our end date.
Good luck.

Thanks Kidcat, I guessed it would be worth it. Biggest one is with MBNA and they have not been very receptive in the past, might as well ask again though I guess.Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

strangely enough no lol. There is usually lots of dogs barking though and people shouting 'don't move i have a Taser!' eventually you just end up wanting to shout at them to all shut up cos some of us want to get some work done
either that or 'just bloomin taser him and get it over with!' depending on your mood

Ha ha ha! Yes I would be of the "just bloomin Taser him" brigade!! Speaking of which, they shouwed us a Taser in action and I would not want to be on the end of one! Police lady gave Pip one and THEN said "don't worry Mum it's not charged!!"Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

My two cents worth on Full and Final Settlement figures - it's always worth giving it a go. Don't tell them it's redundancy money as they might think you have a bit more than you're saying, better to say you have just received a bonus of £X amount or something else like that - we told a couple of debt collection agencys that we had got 4 numbers on the lottery so had £X amount to offer, and we managed to pay off one at just over quarter of the balance
and a a few at 50%-75% ish. So really can depend.
The ones where we had to pay more, if they didn't accept our original offer (we usually started at about 25-30%) we would phone a couple of weeks later and offer a bit more, or sometimes they would offer a bit more and we would just accept that.
Was very handy in the beginning of our journey, when my OH told me about the debts as luckily I'd been working full time with no outgoings really (living with parents at the time) so had a little bit saved up, and his parents gave us some money too to be able to clear a few debts almost straight away with full and finals.
Have a search on the forum as there are some dedicated threads where people have said how much was accepted from various different companies in various different situations.Half of November Make £10 a Day Challenge: £51/ £1700 -

B*m, B*m, B*m!!! I thought Pip would qualify for his free Nursery hours as soon as he is 3, just found out he will have to hang on until Easter so won't be until 17th April. This has MASSIVELY naffed up my plans as I had been counting on the fact I would have an extra £300 a month from January.
Feeling really quite stressed now as it has put all my plans into chaos, need to go back to the drawing board with it allFeeling foolish that I thought we could manage, not going to give up totally yet, plenty of time between now and December so plenty of time to save and pay off more debts.
Have started stocking up on dry goods / Toiletries / Cleaners today. Figure if I add in 1 or 2 items each week then I can build up a nice stock for when I have no income. I did it when I prepared for Maternity Leave and it worked nicely.
Also did some Christmas planning last night, set budgets and now will try to shave off as much as possible.
MUST NOT GIVE UP!

Its really weird how they do it, free nursery placements kick in the term after the child is free, but school they must be in school the term thay are 5, but again this can depend on the intake of the school, as some have 3 intakes, Sept, jan and Easter, while others just have the Sept intake.
Don't be daft you've got nothing to be foolish about, u work really hard, u balance the books, you've just hit a speedbump thats all. You just have to take a look at your signature, that prooves how damm brilliant you are.
Def good idea, getting the extra one or two bits in ready. Don't forget the thrify boards are still there if you need any ideas, etc xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
