  • Big boo to the new hours they want you to work if you go to the other side. Not even possible to do that type of shift pattern if you were single let alone with a family.

If you do get redundancy, how easy is it to pick up another job in your area?

I can't believe all that there putting into the new job, I would totally say go for the redundancy, ok financially its not ideal, but to be honest I have seen the way you have worked miracles over the last couple of years, how you managed with maternity pay etc, youre do.
If you did take redundancy, I'm pretty sure, (but do make some general enquires) as long as your NI contributions was up to date you be entitled to sign on to job seekers allowance, (think its 6 months), it wouldn't be based on household income it would be based on your Ni contributions, and if went down that line, you would still have your NI contributions counted for, (you do anyhow as having you get Child benefit,). A frined of ours who is "well off" took a golden handshake under voluntry redundancy and claimed the 6 months job seekers allowance.
It sounds like you would have no life with the jobm and factoring in the drive there and back, I know its a lot to think throu, u take care. xx

    Having a totally Bleugh 2 days :-(

Today would have been my friend who died of the brain tumours 30th Birthday, I miss her so much.

The road I will need to travel along if I move sites was shut yesterday for 5 hours as a man was killed. Its one of the busiest stretches of road so accidents of varying severity happen daily. Its just another thing that makes me worry about travelling that far each day.

OH got his last wage from old job today and its half what he normally gets, wont get a wage from new job until 30th June. Not sure how we are going to make it all meet, guess we will be making some grovelling phone calls to the mortgage company and also the car finance people.

Rags I am hoping I could pick something up relatively easily as I am willing to do pretty much anything. The hours of work would be more important than the job role, even if just a short term thing. I worry though as my current job pays quite well as Ive been there 7 years so its built up nicely, if I leave and go to a new job the wage will be a lot less.

Mum2one So much to think over, its killing me.

Big hugs from me as well.

It really sounds like theres so many concerns that are worrying you over the job, maybe use the time to look through adds in the local paper, pop to the job centre, they have machines you can view the jobs on there.

I'm sorry about hubbys wages, was it expected to be so low? Has he had all his entiltmenst (holiday pay etc), may be worth taking a look at.

Not trivilising the money, but use this month (as its low through no fault of your own), to see what the minimum you could get by on, I'm sure when you explain the situ, companies will bear with you for the short term.

Jobwise, I know its not perfect, but supermarkets are pretty good with flexible working, even if you used it as stop gap, to something more stable comes along.

You take care, and have a good weekend, try and let the brain get some rest xx

Mum2one I worked in Morrisons years ago and I am more than happy to go back there or any of the supermarkets or shops. Think I would first try the bakery firm where I was a manager in one of their shops before I went to where I am now. Without sounding cocky I was very well thought of and they didnt want me to go so I am sure if theres a vacancy in one of their shops they would let me have it.
He has had everything owed we just didnt know at what point the cut off was for pay and it turns out it was about 2 weeks! He is ringing round today but I am a bot worried as a lot of them wont be there today and of course its bank hols Monday which is when most of the payments should go. Because its only a short term thing I am not overly worried, I know how dreadful that sounds! The main things I want to make sure are paid on time is the Nursery fees and also his debt repayments as if they miss we are screwed, all the others can kind of wait until the 15th when I will get paid.

On a plus side I get a new oven today!! We have not had a proper oven since ours broke 18 months ago!!!!! We have been using a £40 countertop one and credit where its due its done us proud! We saw that wickes had an offer on a hob / oven pack and were going to get it when I get my bonus in July but the offer finishes on Wednesday so MIL evilgrin0020.gif is lending us the money until then, also she gets wuite good discount in Wickes so it should be even cheaper. I cant wait till I get a proper oven!!!!

glad you've finally got a new oven, yay!
horrible decisions to be made about your job, we've redundancies at work at our place and i just don't know whether to jump before my team gets reorganised or hang in there. It's so horrible isn't it? and i'm 'lucky' that i don't have to worry about a child in my decision, but it's still hard.
To be honest your future hours sound terrible, heaven only know's how you will be able to cope with them, your body clock won't know if it's coming or going. Good luck
