I don't know who is charging that but the price per kg at Sainsburys is £10.79 per kg for Duchy not £19. The non organic Norfolk Black and Kelly Bronze free range turkeys are £8.49 per kg. Of course there is a world of difference between the way an Organic Kelly Bronze turkey is raised versus a standard intensively reared bird which is part of the reason for the price difference so you are not really comparing like with like.
The Duchy ones live much longer, are free-range, fed on organic feed, are dry plucked individually by hand and are hung for up to 10 days. So it's not surprising that they cost more.
