I assume you mean because they get hit by idiots driving too fast and smashing into them?!
I was doing 70mph yesterday in the fast lane of the M4, and some tw*t, clearly going well over the speed limit, almost smashed into me! Since I was driving so "slowly" he got aggressive and started flashing his lights and beeping his horn at me, before veering sharply (no indication) into the centre lane and blasting past me, still beeping his horn!
I think you'll find that most accidents are caused by people driving too fast and losing control of their cars... or driving whilst drunk, and/or using a mobile phone.
I was just about to address your ridiculous post above - then i realised about 4 other people already had.0 -

Well that's fair enough. After all, there's no point in holding arguments that are direct contradiction with other posts of yours. In fact the post I've quoted below is one of several of yours complaining about dangerous driving from other road users... :rolleyes:Fair enough.
Given that this driver has passed his driving test and is supposedly a professional driver. Is it ok for him to drive in a manner which is dangerous and in contravention of the laws of the road potentially causing serious injury to himself or others?
I think not.
Are you saying that for me to be overtaking someone at the maximum speed limit allowed, and then having some impatient idiot driving far too fast almost smash into the back of me and then veering sharply into the centre lane with no indication, thus cutting up the person in that lane is ok...? And if you can honestly say yes in response than you are (a) either the tw*t who was behind me or (b) someone who struggles to hold consistent opinions... Either way I won't be giving much regard to your response... :rolleyes:If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -

Oh look, again Briona shows how she can read something and churn it out as something completely different.
Perhaps you should re read the posts on here, on quite a few occasions it has been made clear. But your half a brain has clearly not managed to grasp it yet.
Ah - from reading some of your past threads i see im not the only person who has commented on your 'mis interpretaion' of something.0 -
In response to the OP, rarely there are minimum speed limits in place. I have seen this in tunnels. Not sure if these have speed cameras though.Germany is a prime example of respect on the road, everyone stays in the left all the time0

Briona you would be wise to apply a little more common sense to your driving, and not be so adamant about sticking to the speed limit absolutely. It might make you feel superior to everyone else to be such an observer of the law, but you are probably peeing off a lot of other drivers around you. Waiting until you can see the car you're overtaking in your REAR VIEW mirror before you move back over? Do you not have a nearside wing mirror?
I did my IAM Advanced Driving test 2 years ago - it's with a police driving instructor.
I got on the motorway during the test and sat at dead on 70. He said to me, "Now tell me honestly, do you always do 70mph exactly on the motorway?" to which I replied, "Erm, no, not really." (with a sheepish look on my face!).
He said "So what speed do you normally do?" to which I replied (again rather sheepishly!), "Erm, around 80 I spose".
He then went on to explain that whilst on other types of roads, he expected me to keep absolutely to the speed limit, but that on motorways I should know from my advanced training that a certain amount of common sense needs to be applied to the "rules of the road" and that he would be perfectly happy to edge my speed up a little more towards 80, if it meant that I was keeping up better with the flow of the traffic around me. Obviously in dense or slow moving traffic, this would not apply.
I don't speed on other types of roads now, especially in 30 zones, as I live in one myself and have had many near misses while trying to get across our street when on crutches.
However, on motorways I will quite happily cruise at around 80 (sometimes 90) depending on the traffic flow and ability to see a mile or so ahead of me.
Being proud of rigidly sticking to speed limits is misplaced IMHO. The bloke behind you would not have been flashing you over if there was not room for you to move out of his way, back into the inside lane.0 -
Also I'd like to add that advanced driver training trains you to expect the worst from other drivers, and at some point during your course, you stop getting angry with people, and move towards accepting that other drivers will do stupid things, and dealing with them in a calm and defensive way.
So an advanced driver in the situation you were in would have calmly and safely moved over and let the flashing-light idiot behind you get past, without getting angry with him or taking it personally.
Why don't you think about having a few runs with an IAM observer? They give up their time for free, so its really a very cheap way of improving your driving - you only have to pay membership fees (which are low) and you will qualify for insurance discounts if you decide to go on and take the test.0 -

You don't have to indicate to move back to the left. By definition you should only be in the right hand lane to overtake and therefore should be moving faster than the traffic in the lanes to the left of you.

But it is certainly worth considering if you're doing something because it is worthwhile, or because it's a "habit".0 -
In answer to the OP's question, could you be "camera'd" for driving slower than the minimum speed limit where such a thing is in place?#145 Save £12k in 2016 Challenge: £12,062.62/£12,000.00 Beginning Balance: £5,027.78 CHALLENGE MET
