AOL - best current deal?

Options
Hi folks,

My dad's been with AOL for about 4 years, and wants to stick with them, but I've just found out he's still paying a whopping £17.99 a month for only 2Mb speed, on a wired modem, and nothing else (his phone line is with BT, so standard line rental there, with no free calls). He doesn't want a TV/mobile phone package.

Just wondered if anyone knew what the best deal currently available is when you're renegotiating your contract with AOL? Or what the best rival deal is? We plan to ring them after christmas to discuss, but thought I'd try to find out some info on here first :)

Any advice much appreciated...

you can get bt call plan for £14.85 incl all landline calls 24/7 add on o2 broadband 8meg from £7.50
  • i have been with aol for about 8 years and i pay £6.99 a month for up to 8mb speed (which i actually recieive about 5mb due to telephone exchange),
free wireless router and free aol talk anytime. This is a ongoing 12 month contract.
    hope this helps
  • Hi,

It all depends on where you live. Because I am so far away from my exchange I only get 0.5mb download. Also when I threatened to leave AOL they gave me a wireless router but only reduced my cost from £19.99 to £14.95 per month unlike jonejayc above I pay extra for the AOL talk Anytime They wouldn't budge on the price because of the exchange I was on. I am thinking of getting a dongle which will give me a quicker broadband connection

That does seem like a really good deal!

Going round to my Dads early next week to give them a ring.
