Don't know about you SA but I'm dreading the interview, but you're right about the period of limbo, it's awful, the build up to the court date and then the waiting all over again. And the unknown, I've aged years in the last few days! But, thinking positively, we will be ok on the 16th!

I am sure your landlord will be OK about it once he has let it sink in.... no reason for things not to continue as they are really, he will realise that.

Yes, the waiting is poo..... I sent my stuff to the OR today, special delivery £8.25!!!!! I knew I should have left the choccies and flowers out of it but hey, what the heck! ;) (Joke BTW)

It was beautifully wrapped, even the lady in the Post Office looked twice at the address label.... lol

I think my new found sense of humour is due to some sort of mania at the moment......

You'll be alright. I was cacking it when I pressed the submit button.
I thought a loud hailer would go off and a large cage would come down on me and my computer as I pressed it.

I just got home from a pretty unexciting trip to my county court - there is nothing to it, don't worry

Oh congratulations Marlowvian, well done glad it went well.

the bell and cage describes exactly how I feel I'm having to do so OO7 moves to the printer at work printing 120 pages with out anyone checking that their email to their boyfriend of invoice from some is stuck in the middle. My heart is pounding.

Congrats Congrats definately need some wine or something to celebrate I'll be doing the same to calm the nerves. Ok here goes copy no.3.

Congratulations Marlowvian! Well done on getting through it all, without a hitch too by the sounds of it! :T :T

Hi APnC! Hi SA and Hi to Creditpunch too!

I think you have done a very brave thing APnC by telling your landlord - well done to you too and SA is right! There is no reason why things should not go on as they are as you are perfectly able to pay your rent and are up to date with it so he would be an idiot to want to lose a good rent payer.

I am still waiting on the OR pack!! But the kid's dvd player came today and it is great! I am so jealous now, it plays really well and is good quality. I wanna sit in the back of the car and watch movies!! But it would be a tight squeeze in between their car seats! :o They are so bulky and I would be all squished up for the whole journey. Ah well! Never mind.

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

Did you see the judge? Woman or Man? Wig or Gown? Any fights at court (not you of course) Long to wait?

    Tell,Tell,Tell...... :D /quote]

    Thank you muchly.

Arrived at the court half an hour before my 11 o'clock appointment. Though I wouldn't even call it a court.... it was a poxy office above a job centre. Walked into the reception area and tried to whisper what I was there for but then comically noticed that there was another 2 people there who had the same coloured plastic wallets as did I, full of paperwork, which I recognised as being their BR petitions so didn't feel so bad.

I just sat in the waiting area till nearly 1120 hrs when the bankruptcy clerk called me in, corrected something small on my form, got me to sign them and swear on the oath and told me to go back and wait in the waiting area for the judge to call me in. In the mean time I think another 2 people came in for BR petitions also.

I got the nod from the court clerk at 1132 hrs, thinking right this is it, now they take me to the proper place and I'll prob have to stand in the docks. She didn't have to move though, she just knocked on the door immediately in front of her, and that was it... the court..... my toilet cubicle office at work is bigger than that. The pretty unremarkable old dude with suit but no wig, and breathed heavier than Darth Vader on a ventilator, flicked through my forms, asked who I had sought advice from and said "Would you like me to make you bankrupt?" "Yes please" I replied and that was it.

Told to take my file back to the reception area, then wait again in the waiting area for the OR to call.... oh shizzle I am thinking.......

I waited another half an hour... thanks so much to those who said to take some mags.................then I sat in a small corridor of a room with 1 seat and 1 table and a phone I had to wait for a call on. A good 10 mins later it rings and I speak to a liason officer from the OR office and she just asks for my basic details and confirms that I will only need a telephone interview (so happy). I'll get the date in the post at some point.

    I am soooooooo relieved
Money, money, money. Must be funny, in a rich man's world.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Ha ha ha... I can totally relate though.
You didn't hear about me leaving my Experian Credit Report in the ladies loos at work 2 weeks ago then?? I am such a numpty.

Oh well I am sure Mr HR has figured it out with all the double checking I made him to yesterday to ensure that my wages have gone into my Co-op account rather than my Lloyds one.

Right now, I feel so relieved, I kinda couldn't give a hoot

  • Yes guess it was brave but the alternative was to do nothing and have my landlord get a letter and, as he admitted the first thing he would have thought was OMG she's lost her job and can't pay anymore, so at least I can hold my head up and say I've been honest. You're all so right, if I was in his shoes I'd think well she's paid ok for the last year let's just leave things as they are, but it's the not knowing that is so scary. And don't think it helps that this time last year we were facing homelessness as it was the Big Fight with horrid mortgage co who were trying to repossess. Just seem to be a worry bag at the minute.

Did think it strange how the or's office insisted that it was the law to inform landlords though as everything I'd read on this site prior to my day in court kind of led me to think it was down to the individual or's decision but there's no going back now so I'm stuck with whatever they tell me.

SA you are organised getting everything sent already, I'm still stumbling through the pack!
Life may not be the party we hoped for

I think when we are all discharged we should get together and publish a book of all our accounts of BR - before, during and after - some of them are truly hilarious and I am sure they would put a lot of people at ease about the whole thing.....

    "The Idiots Guide" perhaps? LOL
