SA2011 - New year, New start, New me[STRIKE]Planning on [/STRIKE] making my dreams a reality0 -
Hi everybody
Just to give you a run down of events of the last 48 hours.
Had a meeting with the CAB yesterday and the lovely lady went through all the BR forma with me.Advised me not to open a new bank occount for about 6 weeks. She checked all the forms and helped me to write out my reasons for going bankrupt and i must say she worded it far better than i could. She also helped me write a small passage at the end explaining that my wife needed the family car which is in my name to get to and from work and for child care purposes. CAB help was fantastic and this lady was a voluteer, to me an angel. She explained what would happen after BR and gave me a letter explaining what would happen in court.
Next we went to the CO OP my wife opened a Cashminder. It all became a bit too much for my wife as reality hit home and she broke down in tears. The lady at the CO OP gave her a hug and made us both a cup of coffee. I was touched, there really are nice people out there and the want to help. She told us not to worry and the account was opened
I went home and fine tuned my forms and SOA.
This morning myself and my wife went to court at 1000am and payed £495.00 and handed in my petition. At this stange my wife broke down in tears again. The lady behind the counter gave her a tissue a lovely reassuring smile and told her not to worry everything would be ok.
My forms were handed in and we went upstairs to see the judge. At 1049 today i was made bankrupt. We waited ten minutes and i was called up, the lady told me the judge didnt need to see me and sent me downstairs to the reception with the forms. The lady at reception told me to come back at 1215 and i will speak to the OR over the phone. We went for a coffee and came back. The OR asked me a few questions and told me i will get a letter through the post and a telephone interview shortly.
That was it done and dusted what a relief, strange but i feel so good by taking responsibility and taking the measures so we can look forward to the future, what happens in the next 12 months i dont no but it cant be as bad as having the stress of worrying about the debt.
What do you think

Well done to you Richard and best of luck for the future ......
All these wonderful accounts of how smooth and hasslefree the BR day is makes me feel an awful lot better about my own on Monday.
Do you think the judge couldn't bear the thought of seeing a woman in tears perhaps?
Seriously, well done to your wife as well, poor thing...... it is very traumatic.
