I don't think that's a fair comment. One person on this thread has said they used this service, but at least 5 others have said that they haven't, and one has even got Orange to admit that he wasn't even on the wap when the service was supposedly subscribed to.

i think they may have had a promo for a few months you got to try it for free and opt out thereafter. if so people should be checking their terms and conditions. Not sure if theat is but at the moment you get 2 months free evening and weekends internet but have to opt out thereafter or be charged a fiver. sounds similar!
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
  • I found this forum by accident when I was looking for a way to cancel this multi media, it has been showing on my bill for a while now and when I asked Orange a number of months ago, they said that they did not have any details of this charge and it must be something that I asked for, they gave me a number to call which did not exist. I called Orange this morning to get a better deal on my contract and again asked about this charge, this time the lady told me it was traffic tv and that I must have had it as a offer when I took out a contract with internet access, because i did not unsubscribe, they assumed that I wanted to keep it and kept charging me, now I know that is a charge put on by orange, I am going to ask them for a refund on the charges from the day I asked about the charge to date, my contract is up for renewal and if I don't get my way I will threaten to leave Orange.

If your in your last 30 days anyway, request a PAC code. Will help you get a better deal from orange.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
  • I was charged £3.40 p/m for 7 months for Traffic TV. I was told I must have subscribed to the service and when I said I hadn't, I was accused of being either a liar or ignorant. I called the company that provided the service and was told that the only way I could have been charged is if I'd consciously subscribed.

The 'Traffic TV' WAP address comes pre-loaded in the bookmarks of the WAP browser on many Orange phones - I believe it is the selection of this link results in subscribing to the service despite there being no mention of subscription or charge.

I was told I could only be refunded £3.40 as previous charges happened too long ago to justify the refund. I asked that I burgled the operator but wasn't caught within a month, would I be then allowed to keep my booty.

I have worked for Orange for several years and know what I am doing with handsets & WAP and am aware enough to know I didn't subscribe to Traffic TV. Another reason that this is absurd is that I don't drive.

I believe that Orange should form an investigation - looking at the Traffic TV service.

Seems to be a another SCAM from Orange. Charging for Traffic TV on mobiles that are not even capable of accessing the service and therefore could not have been subscribed.
Following this blatant theft, they then offer to make only partial refunds! If they think that they are going to get away with that, they should think again.

    Check your bills!

Orange are sinking to new depths.

The total opposite of O2 who just seem to be getting better and better.

Not really, Its your handset, Your contract, YOUR responsible. Cant blame Orange because your too ignorant to admit you done it.

thats the most IGNORANT message ive seen for ages
  • i found this out after reciving a high bill that what i normally get..i also found out you get charged 0.009p for the sms delivery reports i never knew this and i have been sending anywhere from 1500-2500 txts a month and i saw a subscription of the traffic tv after using the free trial and thinking it would cancel itself out,

to cencel it txt OW to 247 off orange for FREE, it wil send a link to your mobile giving you a link to the internet on your phone simply scroll down until you find your account, then scroll down onto subscriptions and traffic tv should be there an just simply click cancel.

ive turned the deivery reports off now which im ann oyed about becuase i iek to know if my txts has been recived but now that i have turned it off wil i still get charged becuase im really not in the mood to phone up oranage and have some rubbish spoken to me. just need a simpe yes or no answer please

If you've turned them off on the phone, their off.
  • I only just noticed this on my wife's phone and called to ask about it. Apparently it was subscribed to in Jan 2009. My wife doesn't use wap and definitely not traffic tv. The best they could offer was a £25 refund which they said was about half of the amount and the most they would offer. They said that was a goodwill gesture as I have been with them for about 15 years. I said it wasn't good enough and will be moving my account when it is up for renewal. I don't want to but this has really annoyed me. My bill sin't huge but I do spend about £60 a month with them.
  • Like 1 or 2 others I think this Traffic TV is a scam also. Orange should be ashamed of themselves for their lack of help in sorting this problem. Their customer service is appalling and if you try to speak to a manager you will be told they don't speak on the phone. Presumably that is they don't want to because their ears might get 'bent' or they don't know how to. I am now with Vodaphone and do not regret the move.

It was when I was looking for an alternative provider I found out about the sim only plans on the Vodaphone website. I thought Orange were supoposed to put you on the most advantageous tariff according to your usage but clearly their mission is to screw as much as they can out of you for as little as possible.

One other thing folks I have found out to my cost that mobile phone insurance is a bad deal. On checking my SO's and DD's I found among them 2 DD's for mobile phone insurance that I had taken out 6 years ago. Between the 2 I have paid out about £1000. A rip off. Take my advice and pay in what you would pay to the insurance company into your savings account or create a special account if required. That way you will have some provision if things go wrong and if they don't you have still got your money and probably some interest as well. Not a lot of that with today's economic climate but the idea is worth considering.
