SONY or LG?

Perhaps only after you've paid and have the TV in your hands.
With regards to the RicherSounds sales pitch I have heard it said before that they tend to push sales on the ones they want shot of as opposed to the one that would be best for you.
Completely true, Richer Sounds talk absolute sh*te. Dont EVER take advice off them.:idea:0 -

the sony set will be £299 on boxing day... / £329 with 5 yr warranty at richer sounds.
I have the 40" which I use for gaming with my media center, and its better than my LG computer monitor. Fantastic TV.0 -

I rang today and asked if it would be in the sale on boxing day and they denied all knowledge of it.
I don't want to risk waiting for boxing day and travelling all that way just to be told "they are the same price" or worse still "we have none left"
Is the info from hotukdeals.com reliable?0 -
HotUKDeals.com is a fancy forum front-end - so chances are it's someone who works for the store posting the info.
EDIT - For gaming response time DOES make a difference, but anything under 16ms is unnoticable and a lot of people can't tell the difference under 25ms.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -

Fair play, John.

I recently bought a new TV. After much research online, I settled for the LG 37LG6000. Cost me £549.95 from Richer Sounds in Belfast (my local independent in Waterford was quoting €1149 for the same! but that's another story..). The TV is fantastic, just as the reviews and owners' opinions suggested.
Anyway, after finding the TV I wanted, I chose to buy from Richer Sounds Belfast because they were well priced and near enough to me (well, a 5 hour drive but at least not a ferry trip away).
Can I tell you though, I was really taken aback by Richer Sounds' service. Their customer service is second to none. Before making the purchase, I called numerous Richer Sounds branches in England and the one in Belfast. I even spoke to their Corperate Sales department. Anyway, each staff member in the stores in called, without exception, was friendly, informative and you could really tell that they were putting the customer first. Simple things like they answered the phone with, "thank you for calling Richer Sounds, sorry to have kept you waiting so long, how can I help?". Maybe it's me, but you don't get that everywhere nowadays.
Just have a look at theirwebsite and read about the customer service promises, price match and the like. They even pay your car parking charges for you - whether you buy from them or not!
So, speaking from experiencing, I'm very happy and pleasantly surprised by Richer Sound's service, work ethic and entire outfit. I'd recommend them to anyone. Do you think you'd get this service from Currys?0 -
The gadget show did a review on these just last week, and Sony won hands down.0

I wonder what the major differences are between all the 40" Sony models at the Richer Sounds site? All these are 40", 1080p, Freeview etc..
Sony KDL40V4000U £499
Sony KDL40L4000U £579
Sony KDL40W4000U £679
and then there's always the..
Sony KDL40Z4500U £1229
And if 40" is too big, go for a 32" one - £100 dearer than the cheapest one above
I take it the cheapest 40" model might be 'last generation'?
Anyway I agree with everyone one else here Mike, I'd be tempted to go with the Sony. Good luck with your buy.Sealed Pot Challenge 15 #78

I have a 32" Sony LCD 50 Hz TV which I am really pleased with, and my pal has a 32" LG Plasma 100 Hz model which he is delighted with too. I can't imagine there is much to choose between them. I'd like to think the Sony is built better and may last longer but with technology changing so quickly and prices dropping, that may not be so much of a problem any more.0
