I have a dilemma, please help.
I decided on a SONY kdl32v4000 lcd tv (£359.95) for my sons xmas present and was all set to go down to my local richer sounds store to collect. I rang up to confirm stock and got chatting with a member of staff who asked the question "will he be playing games on it" my reply was obviously yes and he told me not to get the SONY as the response time was too slow, he advised an alternative model made by LG which was actually more expensive.
The website shows the LG model has a response time of 8 milliseconds but the SONY model just says NA.
I am a big fan of SONY and have always chosen it over it's rivals, I'm not sure if I want to get an LG model, I don't know why but I was always under the impression that SONY was better.
Will the response time thing realy be noticable to my 12 year old son as he plays His Call of Duty game?
What should I do?
Mike

I have the 40V4000 and it's a great all round set. My PS3 looks blinding and it does normal SD televistion very well too.
If it were me I'd always go for the Sony. I'd only possibly be tempted away by a Panasonic but certainly not an LG.0 -
Did you find out if richer sound have the sony in stock? sounds like a case of them trying to sell you somthing that they want to sell you.0

Buy a sony
LG are generally quite poor with picture quality (Regardless of their BS specs):idea:0 -

Yes they do have the Sony in stock, I said I prefer Sony but he said LG are the biggest tv manufacturer in the world and are just as good and in this case even better.
Can anyone tell me what the response time is for the Sony model?
thanks

A quick search tells me the response time is 8 ms.
I also have a 32D3000 which is an amazing set, much better than any other I've seen in its price range. It is last years model now but if you can get hold of one then you'll be on to a winner.0 -
A Sony every time. I made the mistake of buying an LG and had nothing but problems.

That's funny, it has the same response time as the LG that he said was better:rolleyes:
I think I'll ring up and ask him to put a Sony behind for me to collect tommorrow.
Do you think I should mention to him that he is talking b******s
thanks all for your advice

Ask him what the response time of the Sony is compared, and when he gives you a BS reply, tell him they both have the same response time to see what he says. RS people tend to sell you what they want you to buy as apposed to the best product. I'm not labelling them all in this category though.

Perhaps only after you've paid and have the TV in your hands.
With regards to the RicherSounds sales pitch I have heard it said before that they tend to push sales on the ones they want shot of as opposed to the one that would be best for you.0 -

i think richer sounds must have some sort of deal with lg. when i called them to enquire about whether they had a certain tv in stock they then started to push lg onto me. when i went into the shop 80% of the tvs on display were lg. so dont bother with lg we have one that is working now but it did break down after 10 months.0
