Am laughing at the "australian distances" comment! My OH is from Warrnambool at the end of the Great Ocean Road and still despairs of me looking at a map and going - "ah well, it's only a couple of hours..." I must get it drilled into my head..."Victoria is the size of the UK, Australia is the size of Europe!" One day it'll click!
By the way, when we were over there a couple of years back we drove from Melbourne, through Geelong and all along the G.O.Road to Warrnambool and I have to say that it was beautiful (including Apollo Bay!)
Anyway, it's slightly off topic, but it's something else that we need to be saving for! In-laws are coming over for 2 months at the end of 2009 to do grand European tour and then we're planning a month in Oz in 2011 by which time the current bump will be 2!! Scary - but I like to plan ahead! Bring on the 2009 budget!!!Jonathan Douglas born 20th January 2009 - 9lb 4oz

:hello: everyone, and a big HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone
I hope you all have a nice night.
For those of you who don't know, my dog passed away on monday. She was old, and ill and so it was not totally unexpected, but I'm devestated none the less. So, I've been a bit MIA for the past two days, but I shall be here on the quiet. Its just getting used to being without her which is proving difficult, but life must go on.
Here's to the 2009 challenge!

Hi All
Well, I'm just waiting for the New Yeear here - raring to get started. Just had a big splurge to end the year off as bought a new fridge and freezer on line as we have just had an extention built.
Also - I used all our Tesco vouchers on Merlin anual passes - free entry to Legoland, Chessington, London eye etc. In previous years we have had legoland passes. The aim being not to spend anything on days out.
Thanks for the tips on keeping track of spends - I will starting writing everything down

I have lots of other language websites too - what level are you studying at and I can post some? Happy New Frugal Year everyone
Oh I'm just a beginner! Level 1a is hard enough for me. Ive been doing the BBC course a vous la france and I have the book and vids too. Spent 2 years studying and the last year not. I will never be great at it I accept but Id love to be able to go over for a weekend or something and just "get by". Any help appreciated!!! Im guessing Im sort of low GSCE but unsure-deg beginner status.
Id also like to improve as my DDs boyfirend is French and one never knows-it could be a lasting thing!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
When is bump due to become baby JennyBee?
Mine is 6 days overdue so getting a bit fed up!!!
Mine's not due til the 18th so still a couple of weeks to go, although I have informed my family that I'm never on time for anything so not to expect any news til the end of January!
:rotfl: I'm going to start having to sleep on towels though as every night this week I've dreamt that my waters have broken! I'm really paranoid about it as our mattress wasn't cheap (got a good deal but needed a decent one as I have back problems) and I am petrified of ruining it!!! Obviously I don't have enough to worry about if that is the thing plaguing my dreams!!
Hope your frugal-teeny arrives soon!(Thanks CW18 for the name suggestion!
