Not moneysaving for me but my DS3 and his housemate both just been and had their hair buzzed. I'm no good at cutting hair but with 3 DS's soon got to grips with the hair clippers - a skill which may come in handy if I ever get any sheep:rotfl:
Anyway saved them £6 each on barbers so they both went away happy.0 -
SF- hope you're ok and keep focusing on September! I find that keeping a diary really helps me when I'm think you're going to explode with stuff going round in my head - I make lists of things that are good in my life and good memories I have, and the things I am going to make happen in the future. It's hard when you have a difficult relationship with your close family members - so :grouphug: (slightly pervy but not meant to be!) group hug from me.
1274 - :T for paying off your mortgage - very impressive moneysaving. Once work picks up are you going to take the extra income and save it or have you got other plans?
Today I spent 70p on bird seed to feed the ducks at the nature reserve, had a long walk and talk with OH. I also opened an Egg savings account to maximise my moneysaving:D . Tomorrow I have to buy mascara and I'm working in the afternoon -so I'm having a beauty night tonight with a long bath, painting my toenails, body butter, a manicure and an early night."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." SF, you should get yourself a metal detector for when you go beach walking. Remember who gave you the idea when you find some buried treasure!0

Oh, sf, look after yourself won't you - don't hesitate to get help before things get worse. I hope you have someone to talk to. have you spoken to your gp or a counsellor? massive hugs :kisses3:
I'm feeling very money savvy at the minute - have just bought 2 new printer cartridges and a new watch battery on the internet and saved myself £34 compared with buying the same thing on the high street, which is probably what I'd have done before this challengenot bad eh. I even managed to fix my bike withour resorting to taking it to a shop even though it took me ages and I almost gave up!

I may PM about something in a minute, if that's okay? xx
1274, WOW, congrats on paying off the mortgage! :j that must feel amazing.
I'm having a bit of a rough time at the moment, I think it may be the anti climax for the past week or so to be honest. Me and my mum are not getting on at all, and we keep having mega arguments about stupid things, like food, and its just not a nice atmosphere in the house at all. Its making so that I spend a lot of time out of the house, or just in my room and I'm beginning to feel trapped here. I am slipping back into something dangerous as well, which is not a good thing - i don't know how to cope with it anymore.
In money terms, I think I'm doing okay. I haven't worked out on a day to day thingy yet, but I'm still managing to keep on track for the monthly total (I think?) ... I've just done a quick calculation and I think I'm about £140 under budget, so that's good
at least thats one positive thing i can write about today.
Sending big (((HUGS))) to those who want/need one.

I hope you are alright my wee pal. It might be time for you to move on now. Could you cope financially with living on your own? How about sharing with a friend or something. I'll give you digs, the only thing is, you would need to move to the frozen north.;) I'm here if you need to let off some steam. xx0 -
SF-Doing my PGCE was one of the most fulfilling years of my life. I stopped drifting and found what I love to do most. As already said, September will come around so quickly..and if you haven't got your accomodation sorted out then I would do so ASAP as those kind of arrangements can make things seem more real. Which will lift your mood no end. Personally I would not stay with your parents as the level of support you get from fellow students is invaluable. Parents will not understand.
I'm 37 years old and still worry about what my parents think but as Nyk said thats common place. My parents will flip when they realise that I'm hopefully moving out of a 3 bed, 10 mins walk from school, in a city full of amenities to a 1/2 bed (if you include a tiny side room) tiny cottage, 15 mins drive from school, in a country lane in a hamlet with only a pub..even if we will beable to pay off our mortgage far quicker. Laid a bit of groundwork tonight when I spoke to my mum by telling her how unhappy I've been. But why do I worry at my age..honestly...its crazy!! Maybe I could adopt a MS mum who would give me a bit of moral support..Anyone aged 53 years and above please apply.
Great news: Our 2nd offer was accepted so we will pay 4k under asking price!!!
Now we've got to get this place sold and we could be off to the country.
Nyk: Well done on the eggs!! How exciting!

i only work part time at the moment, as there is just no work where i live, and so the best place to just to stay put until september - i'll be moving about 4 hours away into student accommodation and i just cant wait!
thanks for your concern though, things are just a little tough at the moment. xx
