Coupled with the fact that we live on a main road and the car fumes - they were a bit 'mingin' (as my DD2 would say) :rotfl: . I am counting this in £4K as it's not a necessity. But, I'd rather get someone in to do it than risk DH up the ladder  .
Have to share this as I felt really sad today - I cleaned our windows on Sunday - came home today and found 2 dead blackbirds on our path a male and female. Not a mark on them but think they flew into the porch door and died - my hubby said must have been my fault for overshining those windows!!
My mum in law has this problem with her front window. Can you hang a net or a blind or something over it?Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

It used to be possible to buy stickers in the shape of flying hawks - they frighten the birds away from the glass. If, that is, you can stand having hawk stickers on your windows and doors.
Edited to add that I have a bluetit who sometimes comes and fights his own reflection in the kitchen window. His poor little beak goes BANG on the glass!

Hiya,
I had a good but stressful decision making day. I phoned the other job up and told them no thanks, she convinced me to meet her just to discuss it. I thought about it again and called to say I wouldn't be coming and she was on the phone for fifteen minutes:eek: . I eventually got through to her that I will stay where I am.
I just would not feel right about it, so I know that I have done the right thing. Then had a visit from my uncles crazy ex, that is another story. Needless to say, she has caused havoc yet again. I should have shown her the door, but I listened to her ramblings and I still have a sore head now. I understand why he stayed with her so long, (he is a recovering alcoholic), he must have been drunk most of the time he was with her.:p
My dad said that's me involved now and I'll never get rid of her. I'll need to, I could not be bothered with her doing my head in all the time.
Why can't life be simple, I would rather it was, and it always seems that it is other people that cause me trouble. It's great to be perfect.:D On a better note, it was a no spend for me today. Speak later. xx0 -
Just wanted to say congratulations and well done, 1274! You must be feeling fantastic about the prospect of absolutely no mortgage! :jI reserve the right not to spend.

Hi all the frugal peeples, another NSD and another day in bed, I dont seem to be getting any respite from this b***** sciatica and think I will have to contact someone at the surgery to see if there is something else I can take or maybe double up on the analgesics I'm taking at the moment. My GP said to wait until the pain has calmed before I visit an osteopath and that is what I'm doing. Anyway I cant go anywhere until the pain is less because I cant drive at the moment.
I've had time between taking tablets and unconsciousness to think about what else needs to be considered on my budget and its quite a lot that I forgot. Who knows I might even manage to write my signature, who knows
To bed once more, at least I can't feel anything when I'm asleep.Keep to £400 a month on C/C.

Lovely to read everyone's news :T
bails - looking forward to photos when you get them, and hope you enjoy your belated Valentine's meal tonight!
1274 - :j Well done on the mortgage! It must feel great and you shouldn't underestimate your budgeting ability as it clearly took effort. I had to study the law of mortgages for one of my modules this year and the amount of power which a bank has over your house when it's mortgaged is scary  (obviously they don't exercise this power most of the time) so it's great to know that they don't have any hold over you now.
taka, good luck on the job discussions, sounds awkward, and :T on the all-clear for your disorder; I'm glad you had us to tell even if you can't tell many people in RL
SL - sounds like you're making the right decision for you but it must be nice to feel so wanted!
enjoyfinancialchallenges - poor you, that sounds dreadful. I had some back problems this summer and while nowhere near as bad as yours I have an idea of how painful and disabling it must be. I hope you feel better soon xxxLive on £4000 a Year Challenge member

Wow, CONGRATULATIONS on paying off your mortgage 1274, what an achievement!
Sorry to hear you're still in pain EFC. Lovely to see you popping in Pipsmum, hope Aidan's doing well. Your water payments sound great Candygirl :T I toyed with the idea of a meter last year but decided against it in this house as we may rent it out if we can afford to keep it when we move. Meditation sounds good SM! And you've got something new now too, your tortilla press!Sorry to hear about your stress SL, glad you stuck to your original decision with the jobs. Sounds like you're too nice; it's okay to say No to your uncle's ex. Really sad to hear about the blackbirds Angela, the stickers sound a good idea Redglass. Taka, sorry about your work frustrations - corner your boss and have that chat, over that drink preferably!;) Hi to everyone else :hello:
We had an amazing night out last night - beautiful food, lovely restaurant, decent bottle of wineWe don't get to go out so much and never like this so it was a real treat. OH paid, I think he liked being able to now he's a working man
Came back and watched some Wire then crashed late into bed (so no danger of the patter of tiny feet Nyk :rotfl:)Feeling a bit mashed this morning so winding up slowly. Off for a shower and then making a start on all those clothes  It will feel great to give loads away by the end of the day though :T
