  • thriftylass sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself. Plenty of hugs for you.

DH is working in London today/tomorrow, so we were disturbed by ds1 at about 3:45 (DH got up thankfully) and then DH got up at 5. ds1 crawled in with me at 6:20, but happily watched cartoons and had cuddles. I hope the weather isn't too bad for DH driving all that way.

I'm going to have a NSD. DH used all the bread, so i have dusted the BM off and that is whirling away. I've done a washload, fed the kids and dressed them, and now need inspiration to entertain them. We played in the snow, then did gluing and sticking with cotton wool and pasta yesterday.

I dare say i can pull out a neglected toy and that will sort it. Have a good one everyone x

  • Sorry to hear about your pregnancy, Thriftylass. Look after yourself.

Hugs for anyone else who needs them, congratulations to anyone who's had good news.

Bails, your neighbour is a.....(insert any rude word) and has probably got clouds of other people's ill-will swirling round him! Janey's hex will have to join the queue (but will still get there in the end).

After months of dealing with slimy firewood kept under tarpaulin, I now have an (almost finished) wood shed in a corner of my yard. It's a lean-to and a friend's OH has designed and built it. I'm paying him but if I'd bought one online I'd be paying much more for that amount of space and I'd also have to erect it myself. I'm really thrilled....not least because I can go and load up my log box under cover instead of standing out in rain/sleet/snow/gales grappling with a tarpaulin and trying to keep the wood (and myself) dry at the same time. :j:j:j

My workplace is closed by snow so I have a day off and now have to plan how to use it. Perhaps I'll just go and sit in the woodshed and gloat! :D

Not sure what to do about the cost of this project, it wasn't something I budgeted for at the start of the year but the man offered to do the work and I would have been mad not to take him up on it. Maybe it can go under luxuries.

It is funny isn't it, there are suddenly loads of 'frugal' recipes about but I don't think they are frugal at all. They seem to be more expensive than what 'we' normally have as a matter of course - a bit like Jamie's 'feed your family for a fiver'. A fiver? That covers a celebration meal, for a special occasion - doesn't it? However much do 'normal' people usually spend??
