  • Got quite thick snow here now :snow_laug and no sign of the snow plough or gritters - we're on a main bus route so usually get done .

DD hoping for more snow so she can't go to college tomorrow, it's not bad enough so far.

We're all snug in our sleeping bags, heating has gone off but it's still warm.
    hope you're all ok.
  • DD has just started doing the morning paper round, and apperently its pretty heavy and has to be done in two halves. So we have dug out the sledge for her to pull her papers, rather than trying to carry them in the snow. Now to see if its still here in the morning, Kids spent an hour having a snowball fight with family from down the road, and came in all rosy cheeked and cherry lipped. I just stayed in and made biscuits.
With the specials on at Mr A's I have done the start to my cleaning stockpiling today. Aswell as a few other things on special such as, Nescafe Decaf at £3 200g jar, so 6 of those in.

    Nite all xx
  • Hello all!

Had abit of a naughty day today :o  bought a chest of drawers BUT on the good side we are now sleeping back in our bedroom (not in babys room), everything is back to normal. We have a normal house again! It is handy that DH can do all the jobs around the house, lay floors, fit doors/windows/install heating etc etc but cos he works full time too, things tend to take alot longer than normal. But we have made it and the baby isnt here yet!!! :j I've been having visions of having the baby and nothing being finished etc. Well panic over now! So I might have spent more in the last month than I should have but I will make up for it this month! (I have lots of food stashed away and the freezer is full). Last week at work this week too so will def save money if I stay at home. (Too big to waddle round shops now!)

    Anyhoo, waffle over xxx
  • I've just done something silly ..... I've joined the February Grocery Challenge.

I put myself down for £100 for three adults - then realised that a] I forgot the dog, b] I forgot that it wasn't February FOOD Grocery, but that most people include everything in their Challenge and c] I'm committed [and probably should be by now  ;) :rotfl:] to a monthly "party" [AKA good reason to clear up the house and actually cook something:D] but it's DH's 45th birthday AND Valentine's Day AND I'm doing the Monthly Party at the end of week 3 ..... this should be fun

    with one important element missing

that'll be the fun ....

    wish me luck!
If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!! :D

  • Thanks, CandyGirl, but I'll give it a go and see how I fare ... I do love a challenge! Looks like it's going to be an "Economy Crisis" party theme this month, a "Charity Shop Challenge" for the Valentine's Day and "HomeMade Heaven" for the birthday boy. I'll keep you posted.

    DG..

I don't include anything apart from food for humans in my Grocery Challenge targets....

Everyone seems to include different things, but it's not a problem -- the main thing is to be comfortable with your target for what you're including :)

Still working on my January figures..... I seem to be missing a couple of receipts -- including the "biggy" from Costco

I can already see I'm waaaaaaay over 1/12th of my annual budget, but I'm still not worried about it as a lot of the 'overspend' can be explained and will balance out over the year ;)

SK - Good luck on your interview and thanks for the tip! :rotfl:I will see if I have the courage to do it.

Bails - nothing to tell. Have met him once and might or might not see him tomorrow and then that is it - highly unlikely to bumb into him after that. I bet Nyk knows as she highlights all the posts ;)

BB - TOMORROW!! As I failed to iron my shirt over the weekend I have to get up early to do it. I haven't had to dress up for work for 15 months and my selection of smart work clothes is very limited. (I have a bin bag full of clothes in understairs cupboard waiting to go to dry cleaners - I might be able to salvage something from there.)

DG - For someone who whisked together such an amazing CNY celebration for so little it should be a doddle! :T

Very unfrugally forgot to turn heating off when I went for my bath so now house is hot, I am hot after my bath and as I washed my summer duvet today I have to use the winter one. Perhaps I won't wear my sweatshirt and woolly socks tonight (on top of my night shirt and leggins). :o

So it is night night from me,

    Marru

Had some pretty heavy snow here, but not to the extent that it spoiled anything - so I approve!

Been spending like a man possessed I'm sorry to have to tell you all. It was my sister's 18th over the weekend so I met her in town to buy her her first [legal] drink and bought her lunch, which along with the train tickets and her present added up to quite a bit. Don't mind though as she had a great day and after everything that's happened recently I was chuffed about that.

Got back to University Town, and ended up going for a meal with my housemates! Argh! Was lovely though, so again I don't really mind, but I'm starting to fall behind :(

Eugh and I've just remembered my insurance direct debit comes out tomorrow!

    Noooo! lol.

Hope you're all very well indeed.
