:hello:Hello all from snowy Canada!! :j:jIts absolutely stunning!
I have no idea what has been happening (but sounds like lots of congrats are in order from reading the previout post :T).
Is it sad that I thought of you all at the airport yesterday when I bought a paper and got free water (half the price of just buying the same bottle of water!)?Oh and Nyk when we flew over Dumfries and Galloway :rotfl:
Anyway got to run - need to get ready for dinner and the start of my conference.
Have a good week everyone!Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Completely valid point CW, and the only reason I haven't signed on the dotted line already (you don't think I actually need OH's permission do you?)

I'm supposed to be at choir but I'm feeling really tired so I'm going to spend the evening in... shhhHave to drag myself out to return some library books later though... I've allowed myself a £10 budget for 'fines' but I don't want to have to use it!
Just one thing, angelatgraceland, you said you'd taken some money out of the bank today so as to have some cash at home. Now if it's just so that you have some spending money readily accessible then I totally understand that and please ignore me, but if it's any kind of significant sum I just want to make sure that you know what the risks are... the worst-case scenario if you have your money in cash at home is that if your home is burgled or burns down then you will lose the money as your insurance most likely won't cover you for having large amounts of cash in the house. But the worst-case scenario if you have it in the bank is that you won't be able to access it for a few months while you wait for the compensation to come through. So as long as you spread your money across a few banks (and obviously under £50k in each) and have a spare current account to use if anything happens to your main one then that won't be a problem (and it seems pretty unlikely that the government would let a high street bank fold altogether - with RBS and so on they're trading as normal and you can still access your money). Sorry to be a busybody but I've heard quite a few people wonder if their savings would be safer under the mattress and it makes me a bit
Some great advice on the thread today :T especially regarding motivation etc.
Also had to pay for theatre tickets for April as Im taking eldest dd for an early birthday present to see Russell Watson-I did ask her first though-rather a lot of money to make a mistake. They charge extra to pay by card and I hate cheques so thats a lump of it gone! Febs budget now in my hand so to speak but I will wait until the month starts. Using cash only I think this year-when it goes on cards it gets forgotten-which reminds me-I have a couple of cards I dont use so may as well close.:money: Just seen Riverdance as they are at the end of the shows. Didnt spend anything except those new tickets!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
 :T :T congratulations marru:T :T
I hope that some of your luck rubs off onto me for next week!! I've got 2 interviews now, 1 on Monday and 1 on Tuesday, so we will see what happens. I don't know what the money is like for the Monday one, but it is good practice for interview techniques anyway.
I'll get something eventually, it's a law of averages. I bought a new suit tonight (with xmas gift vouchers), but got a new blouse as well, £25:o , it is needed though to make me look less like a scarecrow. :rotfl:
Nothing much else to report tonight, speak tomorrow. xx0 -
angel I did a fire safety course for work a few years ago and we were told the safest place for important documents and I suppose money is the fridge. They take a lot of destroying.
EDIT:Possibly whitewing :rotfl:0 -

That'll be why sophiesmum has got a massive american one!
Well done Marru!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

QUOTEAndromache, thank you so much for reminding me to sort out my own library books! Dodged a few quid in fines there
Except one I couldn't renew but I'm not going out tonight. I'd rather pay the fine than go out in the cold tonight, and getting the bus would just defeat the point!QUOTE
Don't forget you can renew over the phone or online then take back at you leisure another day. Don't take an un-neccessary fine if you don't have to. Even if you only renew and take back the next day its better than wasting the cash.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000
