    Afternoon everyone :hello:

Firstly, I haven't had time to read 3 days worth of posts, so hugs to those who need them. I'll try and read them later.

I've had 3 NSD as we went to Dublin for my SIL's wedding, free food and mostly free drink :j . We did get lunch at the airport Thursday and Saturday but DH paid for one and the leftover Euros paid for the other (none of this is in the budget as it was a necessity that we couldn't avoid  ).

Today DH went to Mr S for the first major shop of the year, armed with a list and spent £81.29, which should last us the rest of the month, with exception to milk, bread and f&v.

I've also got 2 money neutral presents for the year, and Enchanted DVD and a 50cm teddy I won in a comp worth £20 for DD. DD and DS2 spent yesterday at Dublin airport looking for dropped coins and between them found 24C, but not a single penny at Gatwick. :rotfl:

I'm off to catch up with the posts.

  • Hello all

Havent posted in a while - been too busy trying to keep up with the thread! Have been meaning to get so much achieved, but failing miserably. I've just run out of energy and I've still got 7 weeks to go :o

Bails - I tried to PM you and did a long waffly message but your inbox is full.... I agree with Nyk, I dont think anyone can ever 'afford' to have a baby. We tried to work it out but then gave up, babys themselves dont NEED lots of stuff, altho all the magazines and catalogues try to convince us otherwise, we've found its going to be the lack of wages. (I start my maternity leave in 3 weeks then go back to work in Nov when the money stops - am going back parttime tho). We cut back on things and tried to live on DH's wages although we have been doing the house up and then we thought we'll go for it but it happened alot quicker than we thought :o
People have given and offered us so much, we were given a pushchair, MIL and FIL bought the cot and mattress, were given bedding and blankets. I'm going down the washable nappy route and the council give you a £30 voucher towards that. Theres a few threads on this topic actually, I think I might have started one a while ago, if you do a seach, loadsa things come up.

Hope I havent bored you :o ([STRIKE]shuffles [/STRIKE] waddles back to lurker-ville!) xx

I've just completed my reviews :j - done 60 of which 53 were first reviews!!!!! Got an email to say I'm a Qype Ninja but nothing about the virgin voucher yet (it says it can take up to 24 hours).

Phew, I'm halfway there... 16 first reviews, 18 not first. Value done so far £25.

    Well done on finishing already!!

My reviews are pretty huge. I can't help it, I tend to use five words when two will do, and I'm opinionated, and I have a lot to say haha!

I'm going to give it a rest now as m'lady will be home from work any minute. Only another £25 to go in the next week or so :o

    Hi frunchkins:D

Had a really good/productive /enjoyable day today so far. Got all jobs done, been to costco, had hair cut, been for walk in woods (and had turn on a tarzan swing:rotfl: ) spent some time with parents. DS turned up had broken his phone  gave him my good spare one, (OH bought me a new one when we went to lakes in November:D) DS then volunteered to wash and valet my car as thanks :T so all in all a good day:j and haven't spent a penny:D

Bails - get the eggs from farm shop nearby,They sell in dozens at £1.40 and I share with mum.I have noticed that asda are currently doing 15 large free range eggs for £2 which I think is quite good for supermarket prices.

  • Just got this email from Qype

    Congratulations

You have successfully completed the Qype Virgin Challenge.

Our quality control team will now check your reviews to make sure they're up to scratch and we'll be sending you your voucher by post in February. Keep your eyes peeled for a £50 voucher popping through the letterbox in early Feb!

Well done and tell your friends!

    The Qype team --

It was quite easy, only started it yesterday, so I'll be well pleased if I get £50 for it.

    hello everyone :hello:

Sorry I haven't posted over the weekend, I've been at work and then didn't really feel like posting to be honest. I have kept up with the thread though, and keep thanking everyone for their posts, I just haven't posted myself.

Have been at work lots recently, as there's been another member of staff on holiday so I've been doing cover. All good for me though as its more pennies in the pot. I've updated my signiture to show the true amount of what I've spent so far, and I feel like I'm doing reasonably well :)

I can't really remember what I've read to comment on anything. :o so sending big (((HUGS))) to those who want/need them.

    sf xx

Hi all, just finished birthday lunch with my parents - everyone enjoyed themselves and my mum just loved having someone else cook for her!

Just to say, I have now cleared some space in my PM box - too many words of wisdom I wanted to keep (mostly from BB) - so sorry for the annoyance of not being able to contact me. Hit me with your messages now :D
    Off to catch up...
Thanks so much to Nyk and Loopy for the input about frugalmites. I wasn't trying to work out how much they might cost me in a lifetime - I don't want to scare myself to death :rotfl::rotfl:- more a vague idea of 'initial start up costs' as it were :D We're lucky in the sense that we're on low incomes now anyway so it won't be a shock losing my good salary. We're hoping to share the childcare and both work part-time, and what with my brother doing the decent thing and going first I hope there'll be some hand-me-downs plus Freecycle of course ;) It's good to know about little things like the £30 for nappies though, and nearer the time I'll definitely search out those threads. Thankyou both.

Well done to the Qypers :T I may have to look into this myself but won't be taking on more than I can do.
Sorry to hear you're working so much SF but as you say at least the money is helpful. I fyou ever want to PM, my box now has space x
Glad you're haivng a lovely day SM and thanks for the egg info (Asda isn't nearby but will keep looking for alternatives). There are ex-battery hens at the Home...
