Hello all, big thanks for the support and glad not the only one with the worry bug re EVERYTHING about starting this! Felt better for actually making the shift mentally to sorting it all out but couldn't sleep last night thinking that it won't all go to plan-were/are you all the same? Am having a slight wobble re dmp and something I read re acceptance by cccs-even though it's their recommended remedy(or an IVA but don't want to go down that route if poss) is it possible they will reject me? Just desperate to hear re bank account so that I can submit paperwork and get moving..As I will be defaulting on payments this month do I send minimum payments and a covering letter to say that am about to embark(fingers crossed!)on a dmp with cccs?
Hope TRMD-fingers crossed re your account and you FAR braver than me, you did it in person-well done x

Hi everyone - I have to call CCCS for my first review (3 months in) - I really feel I need to increase my food budget as my eldest son has now returned home to live with us and instead of the 2 adults 1 child our previous budget of £320 was based on, it's now 3 adults and 1 child. My son has lost his job so cannot pay any board at the moment and there is no way we can exist on our present budget. I am worried that if we have to decrease the amount available to creditors after such a short time, they are going to start creating
Also, £320 was just manageable when it was three of us on a 4 week month, but come a 5 week month - impossible. Anyone else had experience of what happens when payments to creditors are decreased?
Valentine's Day - not really into it, commercialised to the extreme, but we did manage some wine and a kebab - how romantic!!:pNo more credit for me - I will no longer live beyond my means :A

Hello All,
MSC, I am glad to hear that your life has improved in such a small amount of time. May each day continue add to that…...x
TP congratulations! Well done you!
Question all : Before my dmp docs come and Payplan interview should I make token payments to all my creditors now via the bank counter slip? without sending any letters out that I am making the payment?
(The only letter that I sent was the one that I sent re going to the CAB and that I will be in touch) Or should I wait?
Ruthie..sure someone will give some advice on this for you soon...try not to worry good luck.x
Penny ...I went in because I thought it might move things along re ID.
It was awful!! I felt like I was doing something bad and was about to be cornered(Does that make sense??).
OH...... I am looking forward to being able to feel normal about the most simplest of tasks .....as well as sleeping through the night!
Night or should I say good morning all..
Hope TRMD

Hi Ruthie,
We are also having to reduce our payments to our creditors at the end of the month. We have our yearly review with Payplan on the 27th and OH has hd to take a 10% paycut, there is no way we can continue to pay our existing payment, so its with regret that we know we will have to reduce.
I posted a few days ago with the same question, but didn't get any replies. Hopefully someone will see your post, and I'll be interested in what they have to say.
Good luck, and I'll let you know what happens with our creditors.

Penny 39 if you have completed the debt remedy online with CCCS - then they will send the paperwork out to you - so you have already been accepted - I never received a phone call or anything as the DMP was approved online it went very smoothly - the only contact I have had with CCCS was to ask them to increase my shopping budget.
With regards to token payments - yep send them out with covering letter
something along the lines of this will do:-

Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing to inform you that I am seeking advice and assistance regarding my current financial difficulties.
I have sought the advice of “CCCS” and I am in the process of trying to work out a Debt Management Plan with them.
In view of my circumstances, please accept the enclosed payment of £XX in lieu of this month’s payment to yourself. To this end, I would appreciate if you would freeze all interest and other charges on the above account so my debt does not increase.
Thank you for you assistance and understanding in this matter. I would appreciate it in future if all correspondence be made in writing to me.
I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Yours Faithfully

Hope this helps
Even if you dont end up going with CCCS- you have been seeking advice from them so you are not telling lies.

To the people that asked about reducing payments, i have done it in the past, and no problems as such..yes started to get on or two calls from the crediotrs again, but i explained a new financial statment would be sent to them shortly and that my dmp would explain about the reduction. No of them had a problem with this, and the few that asked me why i had lowered payments i jusxplained that we had a fall in income which will be shown of statment they will recieve and hopefull i may be able to increase payments again in the future. All were fine about it.
Dont worry that is why a dmp is flexaible...it there to ensure you can still live whilst keeping the creditors happy.

Morning Ruthie 70- We have a food budget of 420 per month for a family of 3[sometimes 4!], [we are with Payplan ]. I am sure that cccs will be ok with you increasing this as you now have an extra mouth to feed.
You should also be able to increase your other allowances [ie clothes etc] to allow for the extra person.
Elsie52- From reading various threads on MSE I think that many people will be in same position and have to reduce their monthly payments. Im sure that creditors will be glad to continue to get a regular payment .
The DMP is about making life manageable and I think that you are both making a really wise decision which I am sure will be supported by your DMP companies0 -
Morning MNM
Thanks so much for the post.:T I am going to use that post.
Re token payment..how best to send....Postal order, cheque?
Cheers
Hope0 -
Morning too HopeTRMD
I sent postal orders but they do cost 50p each so bear that in mind. With regards to cheques - some forum members advise not to as then your creditors have your new bank details but some members say its ok - so not sure. I sent postal orders as I dont have a cheque book with my shiny new coop cash minder account.
When I bought my postal orders I just asked for £1 postal orders I didnt get them to fill in the payee details I did that when I got home so that I could sit down and make sure that I had done all my paperwork correctly as it does get confusing if you have a few creditors.
Glad the letter helpsDMP starting 1/3/09 - thanks to CCCS & MSEI am now proud to be dealing with my debts!Big thanks to everyone on the DMP Mutual Support Threadyour support has inspired me to get this sorted once and for all xx0
