From recent press i have realised that Lloyds and Halifax are now linked...this concerns me as Hubby has a Halifax CC as one of his creditors and our new bank accounts are Lloyds TSB....does this mean Halifax could try to access my husbands bank account or do they operate under seperate licenses similar to that described in an earlier post? If anyone can put my mind at rest i'd really appreciate it...thnks

    msc

From what I've read so far, they are still operating under separate banking licences. I a credit card debt and overdraft with Lloyds, but a bank account with Halifax and have been told unless they merge banking operations, I shoudn't worry.

  • Bexxie, we're doing two months of token (£1) payments before we start the DMP. Mainly because the company I worked for went into administration & I was out of work for a month - it will also give us a chance to build up an 'emergency fund' (only a couple of hundred pounds because although I'm working again now it's on a 50% salary cut) before we start.

So the accounts that havent defaulted will show 5s (late payments) for six years from when the debt is settled???

But the defaulted accounts clear after 6 six years even if there is a balance left over to pay???

    I'll echo this!!

The lastest news I have heard is that they still both operate under different licenses.;)
  • Hello everyone, I have been lurking around this board for a while now and finally decided to join after reading a couple of posts earlier-thankyou curlyfairy and dlb!! Have finally completed my debt remedy assessment with the CCCS -kept putting it off as I didn't want to tot up all my debt!-and applied for a new bank account online earlier today;awaiting an answer before I finally send my details.Feel utterly terrified at the moment but am taking heart from all you lovely positive people who have done it and survived-anyone else out there get the shakes when going through the DMP or am I just a complete nut??! Have reached the point where I don't have any option as this is the first month where I know I just can't meet my huge payments and can run no longer...Fingers crossed I end up as cheerful as the rest of the "gang". • Hi Penny,

Glad you made it out….welcome from a newbie chasing the light also.

All I can say is you are reaching out to a great gang of people here.
You are not alone re DMP shakes ….I’ve been really nervous today.

Re account …I went into a branch to open a non related current account to my debt on Wednesday…thinking this will speed things up. Still no news. The “relationship manager” said it will open overnight and that I will get the account details through the post in a day or two. Here’s hoping that nothing has hit the fan to wobble this plan. There I go worrying again.
This is my first non payment month too, well apart from Barlcycardx2 end of Jan’s payment….
Let see whose account gets opened first!

Good luck to you on your journey.
I’m hoping some of this great gang’s cheers rubs off on me too!!!

    Hello MMN, DLB, & MD
I can’t thank you guys enough
and Nailerman & Redandblue (welcome to you!!)
You all have been so supportive and informative.

I took action today. It seemed all consuming today mentally …it seemed to take me ages to complete and make the call. I don’t know its almost as if I did not want to hear the dreaded B word come out or if my life depended on it..

A completed CCSCS online debt remedy recommended IVA and secondly a DMP for my situation that lasts 9 years 6 months. DMP is most definitely my preferred option.

I liked the CCS expenditure plan too; it seemed more flexible and realistic in its expenditure criteria.

Also wait for it….yes I also called PAYPLAN. They took some initial details down and said that they were inundated hence the next available full follow up interview was not until Wednesday.
    I booked myself in!!!

So after that I will then decide on which one….

What should be my criteria, the lowest / highest repayment amount given each budget… or just a gut feeling of which one suits me…?
I must say I did warm to CCCS…

Guys, In the interim before I speak with Payplan, Re CCS, as DMP is my preferred option. Do I have to select the DMP option at the bottom of the screen for them to send the welcome pack out? Am I tied in with them then? Or is it just saying “please send me the application form for the DMP recommended.

It would be good to know as I would prefer to get the ball rolling just in case I will end up using them. Cos Payplan interview day is 3 working days away!
At this stage of my recovery that seems like ages…..

    Thanks again guys.

    Hope To Reach My Destiny

  • Morning!

DLB - Couldn't have got this far without you!

    Redandblue- Thanks for reading!:T

Penny39 - Welcome! :j I was a nervous wreck this time 2 weeks ago, I remember doing me first few threads with tears running down my face I was so terrified of facing my debts and dealing with them. Stick at it, it only get's better. When all the great people on here tell you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, they're right!:A

TRMD- We were offered IVA or DMP by CCCS online remedy, and opted for CCCS with a similar DFD to you, so that's us 2 posting for the next decade!! LOL!! I just clicked on the DMP button, filled in my details and within 2 days had the paperwork saying that I had been accepted for the DMP and telling me what paperwork to send in. I have got it all ready to post, just waiting a few more days as ideally want to start the 1st April, not March.
It'll be good for you to speak to Payplan and then make your decision, it's a big (POSITIVE) step that you're taking for the forseeable future, so best you check out both options so at least you have satisfied yourself that you've chosen the right one, well that's how I felt anyway.

    Good luck to everyone:rotfl:

Finally brave enough to deal with my debts! :D

Morning MD ...and everyone who posted after i logged off yesterday....

Had quite a fun day there was no way the creditors were going to ruin it ...we only had 3 calls but they were all greeted with...no i think you have the wrong number....no this isnt that address....ok, sorry you've had a wasted call!!! Not terribly professional but i couldnt help myself ...they arent ruining my wknd!!

MD i'm planning to post all my CCCS stuff tomorrow with a post it note just confirming it will be ab April start and that march token payments are alreasy on there way to creditors (they arent yet but will be by the end of the week)..i'm as certain as i can be that this will be an April start.

For the 'newer' posters (although i'm still a relative newbie) i'd just like to second what everyone else is saying again, this really is the best support you can have...i'm thinking a lot more positively, there are fewer rows and our quality of life has improved....all this in about 3/4 weeks......we're going to be here for the long haul too (6 years ish) but i'd rather spend 6 years like this than how we've spent the last few especially since our credit rating would have been pants either way!!!

Enjoy the rest of your wknd xx

    DMP though CCCS starting 01.04.2009
Debt Free date March 2015 but would love to be there for OH's 40th in 2014.
  • Morning all! :D Hope eveyone is well just wanted to tell you all my good news. My ppi reclaims so far......

Monument - asked for ppi back, they offered £300 odd quid I refused and sent SAR to them, I received SAR and full info regarding ppi charges and wrote back wanting full amount of £757 or would go to FOS, had a letter yesterday to say that even though they acted responsibily and accept no liability but to resolve this dispute they will offer me £1252 which includes interest!!!! :j :T

Halifax ppi on 3 loans - wrote letter for mis-selling due to OH being self employed, had 2 letters from them saying still dealing with issue, letter yesterday stating ppi might not have been appropriate for you and UPHOLDING the complaint for all 3 loans. Will write again shortly with full details and exact amounts to be paid back!!! :j :T

The money will be paid into the accounts as they are in arrears but I don't care I never expected the cash back being on a DMP, it means our debts are coming down slowly. On paper we owe a massive 50k  I hate looking at that amount I really do, I felt sick and so ashamed when I first saw that amount on paper but I have come to realise we haven't spent this much, no way, it has been buliding up over the years with added ppi, interest and charges!

But been on such a high this weekend, feel fantastic and needed this boost so badly. Between researching til late at night, reading up on CCA's, DCA's, DMP's and everything else in between I felt my head was going to burst. From the start of our DMP I have been eating, sleeping and sh..... debt! :D But can see a tiny light at the end of our tunnel, it might be years away but it's there.

    1-0 to moi! :j
