I am waiting on all the paperwork coming through the mail for my DMP so i assume it takes a while to set up? do you think it will be april before it starts?
I will need to send token payments to my creditors do i just do this by postal order? is there any reason for this or is there any more convenient ways?
I was accepted for new bank account with natwest but just realised the are with RBS grrrrr so back to drawing board and have applied with abbey and waiting for an answer.
I am currently with lloyds tsb and have a bank loan with them due out on the 1st of march should i just default them and keep the money? as im planning to jump ship on the account as soon as i can!proud to be facing debts of 16000k

Hi Skintlady.:j
I'm a very new member on this thread compared to others, so not sure what is correct or not.
But the way I have decided to do it is to make sure all my February payments to loans and cards have been paid as normal. I am then going to send token payments of £1 with my notification of DMP to my creditors for the March instalments, ready to start my DMP with CCCS on the 1st April.
When I first contacted CCCS they told me to cancel all D/d's and to just send them what I could afford for the month.
I think they tell you to send postal orders so that they can't track you from any cheque that you may send with your new bank details on!
It is entirely up to you, if you can't afford your loan payment this month, then I think you just send a token payment, like I said I'm a new girl so may be best to ring and check with CCCS.
Lots and lots of luck to you.:jFinally brave enough to deal with my debts!CCCS DMP - 1.4.2009Couldn't have done it without the guys on the DMP Mutual Support Thread.:T :T :T :TDMP Support Member 2550 -

Hi,
I'm with Nat West for my new "safe" bank account AND I have 2 RBS credit accounts.
It hasn't affected my DMP and RBS haven't tried to rob my bank account.;)
The two companies have different and seperate banking licenses so they cant take each others money from accounts.
As long as this continues, you will be fine.

Just wante to say HELLO to everyone, i'm back at work now after a long stretch off so am only getting logged on in the evenings now.....so much happens during the daytime too:-(
Like massive debts we are due to start our DMP thru CCCS on 1st April...all the paper work is ready to go off to them this weekend! I feel much more positive and relaxed, hubby and i arent rowing anywhere near as much (nearly every row would have a money element somewhere) and life is generally looking up.....we were juggling debts and seeing what was left to live on. We are doing our first 'budget month' this month and although its been hard adapting to cash only we are getting there and we arent having what we cant afford.
I did underestimate the shopping budget, i think because i tend to get toiletries and cleaning etc from the 'cheap' shops i hadnt added that on to my supermarket spending to give a true reflection but i called CCCS yesterday and without question they upped our shopping figure by £40 a month.
On the creditors front the calls have started, Egg continue to call despite telling me they have removed my number from their system - i just cut them off on my mobile now. Capital One have called for my husbands card (but not mine?) and i refuse to pass the phone over, remind them we have sent letters requesting no telephone contact and suggest they call CCCS. We've not heard from anyone else and all have cashed the feb token payment.
All in all its going much better than i expected and everyone who says you gain the control back into your life is absolutley correct...i still worry about the bad credit rating but the next 6-10 years of actually enjoying life but with a bad credit rating have got to be better than the next 6-10 years rowing and worrying with a bad credit rating!!!
Welcome to all the newbies - you are in the best place. xxDMP Support Member 254. LBM 20/1/2009DMP though CCCS starting 01.04.2009Debt Free date March 2015 but would love to be there for OH's 40th in 2014.0 -
That is so true you've hit the nail on the head with saying enjoying your life with a crap credit rating is so much more important than going on with debt and all the stress for god knows how many years!!!
Im actually excited at the prospect of being able to put petrol in my car!!
Thanks everyone, really need my new bank account in place so that i can get all my wages and direct debits changed over!!proud to be facing debts of 16000k

Halifax have been pretty good with me (touch wood!). I have around 13k spread across Halifax, Sainsburys and IF and apart from initial phone calls and then again after 3 months, they've been great. Stopped charging pretty soon (interest and late payments). Egg & Amex defaulted immediately and haven't heard a peep from either. My most troublesome have been 2 current accounts, who refuse to acknowledge DMP and add 20 quid a month in charges. I think it's the low debts that cause the most aggro (maybe cos I pay them a few pounds!)DMP mutual support thread No: 2430

Skintlady you can decide when you want your DMP to start so April will be fne.
If I was you I would default on the loan and send token payments - that way if you send everyone token payments then you have treated them all fairly and you can then put the loan money aside for emergencies.
Good luck with your bank account with the Abbey
DLB
Congratulations on getting your paperwork through - it all seems to be runnign smoothly for you - and now you are saving some more money by not paying a fee for your DMP - so thats good news.
Halifax Bank -have suspended interest on my bank account overdraft so no charges there - but halifax credit card are still charging interest but I am not going to worry about it - they will get what I can afford - if it takes forever to pay them then thats their fault too as they are not helping.DMP starting 1/3/09 - thanks to CCCS & MSEI am now proud to be dealing with my debts!Big thanks to everyone on the DMP Mutual Support Threadyour support has inspired me to get this sorted once and for all xx0 -

Hi!
Do you mind me asking what you have set your shopping budget at. We are a family of 2 adults & 2 kids, and we have been given an allowance of £383 for the month by CCCS, I didn't think you were able to alter this, unless reducing of course, do you know if this is correct?
