Hi all
I am ashamed to say I BOUGHT A PACK OF TEN FAGS TODAY arrrrggghhhhhh!!! I did so well too but oh I just had to have oneso I'll have to change the signature now!
Sunshine can I join your gang?
Anyway on the creditor front we had a letter today from Halifax, OH got all his charges back (late payment fees over limit etc) :j  :j  :j
£180 worth, ok so we still owe like 7 million but hey its a start! ....:rotfl:
I sent letters (template ones from here) off to Monument and Halifax asking for a refund of the £12 credit card charges, Monument offered £90 which we accepted and Halifax said sod off at first so I sent another letter saying some months we were charged twice so it was £24 instead of £12. As I said a letter today apologising that OH was unhappy and refunded the £180 to his card account.
Brill isn't it? Now all we need is some ppi back
I must admit this ppi reclaiming is a big hassle I have stayed up late so many nights getting the replies just right but I am hoping it will all pay off soon.
As much as I feel sad and down that I got into this mess in the first place I am determined to fight to get something back. AND whne you see on the news about banks giving big bonuses to staff well that just sets me off even more to fight back at the creditors!
So if anyone else feels like they are owed money from credit card charges or mis-sold ppi, I'd say 'go for it' you have nothing to lose (apart from a bit of time and £1.08 for postage) but fight back, stand up and get your money back! There are some fantastic posters on this site and if you search the ppi reclaiming part you will see all the thousands of people who are fighting back. Give it a go, you have nothing to lose xxDMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -

That would be fine to send letter with token payment and then in march send CCCS letter with token payment and then another token payment in April. I am sure that CCCS will be fine about you starting in May - just give them a quick ring they are there to help you.
Sorry to hear MOT is a fail - hope you can get it sorted
Good luckDMP starting 1/3/09 - thanks to CCCS & MSEI am now proud to be dealing with my debts!Big thanks to everyone on the DMP Mutual Support Threadyour support has inspired me to get this sorted once and for all xx0 -
thank you. am so worried taht they will think we are taking the mick as may seems so long away.
but we have already paid half of febs debts, which only leaves march and april to cover mot and have some sort of back up. they wont say we cant do it if they think iots too long will they
this is first time i have felt like we are doing something positive about our money and i dont want to spoil itSAHM getting organised 2010.

I can fully relate to how you are feeling I approached CCCS early Jan - but my first payment to CCCS is March - I did originally opt for starting it in February - but after great advice on here put it off for one month and CCCS didnt ask why but I told them that I wanted to make sure I had enough money to cover for my gas and electric bill which was due in covering the winter months. CCCS were absolutely fine and just told me to make sure that when I sent the DMP letter off to my creditors to make sure that I put in the relevant box start date "March".
Dont be worried about putting your DMP off for a month CCCS will be fine at least you are facing up to your debts and offering to try to get yourself out of the mess you have found yourself in. Be proud you are doing a good thing and you will feel down one day and up the next but it will all calm down and you will get your life back rather than worrying about debts all the time.
xxx please feel free to ask any questions no matter how stupid they may sound - we are all here to help each other. xx

Yep me too billybobberyl
Without the support of this thread for the last 2 months I think I would have been sectioned in a funny farm by now. Instead I am facing my debt demons head on and for now winning :rotfl:
Off to bed soon - have a good night and please dont worry - CCCS are on your side and are there to help you -the last thing they want is for you to enter into an agreement that you cannot keep to so if delaying it for one month helps they will be fine about it - Phone them in the morning to put your mind at ease.
Let us know how you get on - take care for now xoxoxox

Evening all!!!:D
After reading through some of the recent posts, I'd just like to say dont worry if it takes a couple of months or so to get your DMP up and running!
Your creditors WILL ACCEPT your DMP even if it takes them a while to get used to the idea They know it is the only way to get back some if not all of their money.
When I first started my DMP, after sticking my head in the sand for ages, then frantically trying to secure another loan against our house to pay off the debts to no avail, some of our creditors were up to 3 months payments late!!!
When I realised that the only way forward was a DMP, I started to get things under control and got the DMP up and running. By the time it was sorted, some creditors were over 4 months in arrears and these creditors STILL ACCEPTED the DMP as they knew that realistically this was the best way to get any money back!
Things will come good eventually!!!;)
Good luck all,
Cocker:)0 -
Does anyone know will they still accept a dmp even if you are not in arrears and have not yet missed a payment. I know I am not going to be able to meet the payments this month so was going to pay token payments and set my dmp up for April. Or do you miss some payments first? I am so scared about it all I have 2 small children and cannot believe I got in this mess.0
-
HI jaapie. I didn't miss any payments - took cash out of one card to pay minimum on another but still didn't miss any.
I only made one set of token payments just before going on the DMP. They took a few months to all agree and give in to the DMP and stop interest though. Some agreed immediately, some took a few months.
But no-one complained that I had met previous payments and so should be able to cope
Hope that helps. It's still the best financial move I ever made and my only regret is not having done it soonerAt least you are taking responsibility and trying to sort the mess out instead of ignoring it or running away - that's what is important
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
