  • Well done Toffee Penny on quitting smoking! I bet it has been tough but seeing the money you are saving must really spur you on!

jaapie - we were the same as you. Had never missed a payment but really struggling to meet min repayments and credit was being used earlier and earlier each month. We still decided that a DMP was the best route for us. Go to the CCCS website and put in your details and it will advise you on whether a DMP is suitable or not. Believe me, it is the best thing we have ever done to get ourself out of debt.

I haven't been on for a while as I have found out that I am pregnant and it has made me realise that my DMP is not the most important thing anymore!! You may remember that I posted a while ago about starting to TTC and it happened first month of trying! Wasn't quite expecting it to happen that quickly!

This month we have officially paid ten grand off our debt as well so that feels really great!! Took just under one year and makes us realise that we can do this even though the budgeting is still tough. I am now looking at how we are going to manage on a DMP with me on mat leave and buying things for baby etc. I won't be able to claim any benefits as we earn too much so a mortgage break may be our only option to ensure we can maintain our DMP payments.

    Hope everyone else is well...

  • msc 1977 - I think you were right to call them and the fact they now have the ref should mean that the calls now stop. 8 letters is just hilarious! I wouldn't worry in the slightest - as you say they will try any tactic poss to get you to pay it back. Just sit back and relax!!

Morning everyone i hope you are having a good wknd so far.

I have so far received 8 letters from Egg regarding the cancelled DD's on my loan and CC (theyreally should save the postage given there is a recession!!)...but also this morning they have sent a letter thanking me for requesting a copy of my loan agreement and enclosing the copy. I havent requested this, does anyone know if its standard procdure / bullying tactics to try and get me to pay ...or are they intending to take this further?

They did call me last night (again) and the guy i spoke to was really nice, took my CCCS ref and said that they didnt have it already (strange cause he had read my letter about the DMP??) and said he would request the calls stop while they await info from CCCS.

So now i dont know what to think? Can anyone put my mind at rest? thanks

Egg made a lot of noise with me - I was getting letters approx every 3 days right up until one where they said they would pass it to their solicitors for legal action. Then about a week later (at exactly 4 months since I missed my first payment and 3 payments from Payplan) they agreed to my reduced payments. Haven't heard from them in 10 months now!

I think they like to push as much as possible to get payment then finally realise what they're getting and give up!

Halifax is one of the creditors that told me they would stop interest if they recived the forms that can be downloaded at cccs site.

Thanks for that, I have already given them those forms from the cccs website. The Halifax told me that we only normally stop interest to the people who are with the cccs and if the cccs act on behalf of them, not juat the paperwork. I have a cccs client number but doing a self dmp.

  • Congratulations Tinkerbell :T :T :T :T

That is fantastic news. Now don't be going worrying about finances. You can adjust your DMP while you are on maternity leave. Also you will get Child Benefit which isn't means tested and you may also get some Child Tax Credit - you can get it if you earn up to £62K or something like that.

Also are you aware of the new payment which is available to all pregnant women who are due after April this year? Again this isn't means tested. They give you £190 to encourage you to buy healthy food for yourself.

Plus friends and family will buy you so much baby stuff you'll not believe it.

Awe its great to hear such good news on this thread.
