    Can anyone help?

I want to do my own DMP as I have a loan that I cannot include with CCCS and Payplan. Do companies freeze interest and charges if you do your own DMP rather than through CCCS? Are there any companies which are better than others?

From what I have seen, it is possible to do yoru own DMP. there are a number of people on here that do.
Some companies will freeze the interest, others will let it run ( some will let it run at a reduced ammount).
to be honest, from what I have seen, if companies donot want to freeze the interest, they may simply default the account.
That is a good thing because then, interest etc I believe will be stopped as the account is essentially frozen.
You may end up in court, in which case, as long as you have prooved you are managing a DMP and can show the courts as such, all they will do is issue a CCJ and maje the debt repayments legally binding. By doing this, the interest will be frozen.

To be honest, Ive heard good things about Mint. Egg were good when I explained I couldnt pay and therefore was starting the DMP, they defaulted the account immediatly. MBNA have been real Sods to deal with, calling 5 or more times a day.. that was until I lost my temper and accused them otf proffiteering from others misfortune by offering me a consolodation loan.
Barclays called a lot, but a letter complaining aboutr the time and frequency of the calls has resulted in an appology letter and they are taking my complaint in house and are investigating things further.

Im happy to share any templates that I have used if they can be of use

Whilst iv been changing over from a fee paying company to payplan..this came up.
2 creditors told me they would only freeze interest again (if i was to do a self managed dmp) if i downloaded the free finacial statments from the cccs site and they recived a copy of it.
Other wise they would continue to apply interest. This doesnt matter to me now as im with payplan but may help you.

Just out of interest why cant you add the loan to cccs? not heard of that before.

I am doing a self admin DMP. But I have had a telephone interview with the CCCS and they have done my budget for me and hopefully I am sticking to it. It is early days for me at the moment only a couple of months. Most of my creditors have stopped the interest. The Halifax have not and they have lowered the interest rate for three months. Thats nice of them.
All the phone calls have stopped now hopefully.
I have found that the national debtline website has loads of useful letters and info.

  • Hello

Just wanted to check in and say 'hi'!

We're off tomorrow to open our new Nationwide Cash card account, ready for when we need to send our letters and token payments to our current bank (re O/D). Still waiting to hear from CCCS, but am feeling fairly positive at the moment. I've been on this forum every spare minute that I get at the moment...it's true what you all say, it really does help you to get through the tough times.
    Thanks for keeping me going.

    Enjoy your weekend

  • Evening all! :D Just wanted to say a very big HELLO to the new and not-so-new people on this lovely thread :p

Exspendaholic - well done, 1-0 to you eh? I am still waiting to hear about our ppi claims, should come through soon. It seems to be taking an age. Really annoyed about the snow because we didn't have any post! How sad am I? :o

I must admit I have felt down a bit lately just getting bogged down by all the letters needed to start the reclaim process and the too-ing and fro-ing b etween the creditors, its a pain in the bum. When I read others stories on the success thread I thought it was going to be easy-peasy but no way! the creditors seem to want to fight to the death, mind you there are now 1000s every day due to this forum starting to reclaim so I'd want to fob people off too if 1000s wrote to me wanting their money back! ;)

Stopped smoking for 3 weeks to the day and feel so much better for it. Have got one of those tubs from the £1 shop that you need a tin opener to open it, we managed to save nearly £30 in over a week! That's how much we were spending on fags! We are doing ok and we haven't battered each other yet cravings haven't been that bad, think we are really determined this time to do it so it helps with saving the money, be a nice surprise when we get to open it too. :j

    take care everyone xxxx

Have been thinking of doing a dmp and have put it off so I decided to call my credit cards as I have never missed a payment. MBNA were very nice but basically said that because I was making my payments they could not help me - does this mean I have to go into arrears to get help. They would not look at the interest rate. I seriously think a dmp is my only option I just wanted to avoid going into arrears. What do I do? I am struggling every month.

I have one loan which is in my bank account how would I stop this. Sorry to sound so dense I do not know which way to turn and then I wonder why I am even considering not doing a dmp.

Morning everyone i hope you are having a good wknd so far.

I have so far received 8 letters from Egg regarding the cancelled DD's on my loan and CC (theyreally should save the postage given there is a recession!!)...but also this morning they have sent a letter thanking me for requesting a copy of my loan agreement and enclosing the copy. I havent requested this, does anyone know if its standard procdure / bullying tactics to try and get me to pay ...or are they intending to take this further?

They did call me last night (again) and the guy i spoke to was really nice, took my CCCS ref and said that they didnt have it already (strange cause he had read my letter about the DMP??) and said he would request the calls stop while they await info from CCCS.

So now i dont know what to think? Can anyone put my mind at rest? thanks
