Just had a bit of a bizarre phone call from Co-op regarding my loan account. They've been calling daily but its always been at a time when I can't take a call (like last night - 8.35pm!!), but decided tonight to answer (again, 8.35pm!). Fella says that CCCS have been in touch and did I know how much the payment was - so I said if CCCS had been in touch, they would have made the offer so they should know, I did say I had it round here somewhere.

Then, next thing I know, he says he'll stop the calls for 2 weeks. Really bizarre. So I said that there was little point in phoning me anyway, because CCCS were dealing on my behalf. And he said "that's what I'm saying to you, the calls will stop for 2 weeks."

    So odd!

And M&S have said they won't accept the amount CCCS are offering, because they say they need 1% of the balance - had a letter from them yesterday and one from CCCS today saying don't worry, just keep paying the amount we say. So have got default notice from M&S (bring it on! lol!).

MBNA & Cap 1 have accepted the amounts offered and not had a single phone call from either of them. Halicarp have been phoning at inconvenient times, so maybe if I feel like talking to them, I'll answer! Don't see the point in them phoning, because I know that CCCS will have been in touch and made them an offer!!

It has, however (so far!), been a lot less stressful than I was expecting! I was expecting major harrassment from my creditors but it hasn't actually been that bad!

And - I actually really enjoy budgeting and getting my spending down!! :T

  • Evening

    Hope you are all well.

Its 2 years since I had my LBM and looking back at how life was before the DMP makes me shudder. Had a review last week and everything is staying the same.

Had a nice surprise today of a cheque for £167. This was missold PPI on my Egg card. They had written to me saying that they were reviewing this and asking me to fill in a form. To be honest I thought the amount would be around £40 and that it would be paid to the debt I have with them but no a lovely cheque arrived. :j I know I should pay that into the DMP or something but I'm keeping it. The eldest has a school trip in a few months time that will cost £70 so that will be taken care of. :j

    DMP started October 2008
  • We've had a lot (ha) of calls fom COOP - they start at 8:45am & finish at 6:30pm. Not that we've answered the phone (the ringer is off), coop are our smallest creditor. We haven't heard anything from any of the others yet (they'll be a deluge tomorrow).

I'm still waiting from my new contract, then we'll start the DMP as soon as I get paid - it will probably be another month of token payments.

Hi, can anyone give me reassurance, am on dmp with cccs but have to reduce this months payment as i have to repair my car. Have spoken to cccs about this and they say i can reduce this months payment, but am scared my creditors wont like this and start ringing me again, dont really want to reduce payment but have to. Has anybodyelse done this just for the one month? and then gone back to normal payments the next month.

    Me I did it ;)

CCCS told me to just ring them all to let them know that it would be reduced for just one month and the reason why.

So dreading it I rang, every one of them said OK fine. :T

Then First Direct wrote to complain I'd gone against the agreement, so I explained I had rung them to inform them and they said - message wasn't passed on to correct department and ok they'll let me off ;)

So no problems at all over it - and a huge relief at the time :D

    Hi,

I have a quick question. I have tried to fnd this on the threads but no joy so far. But I apologise for asking questions that may have been asked already.

I am on the verge of starting a DMP with the CCCS. Before I do I was wondering what effect this will have on my wifes credit file, and also who are the best bank to aproach to open an account with. Also can my creditors chase my wife for payment even though all the debts are mine and in my name only?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi All,

Thanks for your advice. I have now got an account all sorted out, moved my essential DD's, and told my HR dept my new account details. I'm sending of the templates the CCCS sent me tomorrow. Not looking forward to all the phone calls though. Feeling really scared about them. Does anyone have any advice on how to handle them? I am feeling releived to be doing something about my situation though, and that I'll be able to live without worrying about having enough money for petrol to get to work, and whether I can go shopping for food.
  • thanks newlywed......our car is in need of repairs costing about £300 and i thought that what you said was the only way to get it sorted out....reassuring to hear of your experience so thankyou
  • Hi

Does anyone have any experiences of moving home or trying to get a Mortgage while on a DMP ?

I now have enough equity in my home and I was thinking of moving and as part of that process pay off what is outstanding to my creditors.

However I would need to get an increase in my mortgage or move to a new lender as part of that process to use the equity for this purpose

    Many thanks in advance

Yeah, it was such a relief. CCCS actually suggested it. First Direct did say rather stroppily that car repairs were included in my budget so should have been covered. To which I was tempted to reply by blowing a large raspberry down the phone :D

Next time I get a comment like that I'll say but my car is 12 years old and I can hardly buy a newer one can I? So if the repairs come to more than my years budget I do still need to repair it somehow ;)

This month have spend £130 on tyres and now have problems somewhere with the radiator or something as started losing water/coolant, so expecting another bill as soon as I take it to be looked at :o Need it for work though, so will have to be done. Not sure how they will react to the fact I only reduced payment coz of car last May though  (but have been offered a loan by a relative so might be ok)

Me too :D . Last September my £200 savings for the MOT were blown apart by a new exhaust and new tyres. Reduced October's payment by £400 (1/3 of our normal payment). No hassle from anyone except Llloyds TSB who phoned every month for 3 months, were told the same info every month then gave up  .

I was really worried about the reduction but got lovely reassurance from Newlywed and she was right ;) . It wasn't a big deal at all :D .
